Chris, it's an extremely bad thing. Republicans are a minority in the US. If they make it more difficult to vote, it drives down the number of votes they need. Their voters show up. We don't get the day off to vote. It's on a regular old Tuesday, not the weekend or a national holiday. Many have to work, then take care of family, leaving no time to stand on line for hours. Republicans are constantly putting up hurdles to vote. Suppression is the entire point. Racial minorities are not viewed as "real citizens" by some on the right, so anything that weakens their ability to vote is ok according to them. Certain I.D.'s, fewer machines, and now threats of violence or harassment. Voting in a democracy should be an easily exercised right, not some sort of anxiety filled obstacle course race.

Aside: The President of the United States of America, *standing in line* on the side of the street, to vote.
