Wow, I got it!
All I had to do was run
./nodebb build before starting! I've been messing with this for days; this is the most gratifying feeling in the world. Haha. Thank you everyone for your replies.

RE: Can't login with admin [Merry Christmas]
yes, I'm pretty sure I did. I don't remember what I did though.. Should I run
use nodebb? Because there are two, I think set up:
so, in mongo:
Can't login with admin [Merry Christmas]
So, after installation, and finally getting everything up and running, I accessed the forum. I went to the admin dashboard, and tried entering my mongoDB admin username/password as I'm supposed to, no?
But I get this error:
Login Unsuccessful Invalid login credentials
I searched for possible solutions, but there is none. I was able to create another account, and login with that one, but the admin account is a no go. So if I go to 'users', there's an admin account and the account I created.
What could possibly be causing this?
In the console, I receive this:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden)
If that's any help. I sort of feel like my mongoDB is somehow configured improperly, but I do not see how, as I followed all instructions. But which DB should I use? As the instructions said to create two users, an admin username/password (in admin DB) and a nodebb user/password(in nodebb DB). So accessing mongo, should I say
use nodebb, or
use admin? I've tried both, though, no luck.
Hmm, is there any way that I can access my admin username/password?
Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
RE: Setting Up
But, I'm not using either apache or nginx, I didn't know I had to set those up(?). So far I configured MongoDB with admin and nodebb users. Basically, I completed the tutorial that I mentioned above... or so I thought I did.
That's cool, I didn't know it came with a front-end. Lol.
Overall, I think I need to learn more. I might have messed something up during the installation.
I looked for tutorials, but couldn't really find any related to my question(s).
Basically, I installed NodeBB locally, per the Ubuntu guide: https://docs.nodebb.org/installing/os/ubuntu/
But now I'm sort of lost. How do I get a theme(and how do I configure this with the back-end)? I was going to build the front-end in React as a project, but I'm not exactly sure how to even get this started(I'm pretty new to full-stack).
When I run
./nodebb start, it doesn't do anything.
./nodebb log, afterwards and I see some actions in the terminal.
So I guess my question is: how do I get a front-end up and running, interacting with the NodeBB software? Are there tutorials on this?
I apologize in advance for so many questions. If you can guide me to the proper tutorials, I'd greatly appreciate that; or if you're up for it, I'd most certainly appreciate your words as well.
