October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in the US. Too bad it isn't Ableism Awareness Month because the problem isn't that disabled people "don't want to work". The problem is that employers have been allowed all along to get away with not having accessible workplaces & actively discriminating.
People think the Americans with Disabilities Act solves this, but ADA leaves it up to individual disabled people to sue. Suing costs $, which the majority of disabled people do not have. The DoJ and DoL should have been enforcing accessibility and anti-ableism in society for at least 34 years now. #NDEAM #Ableism #UCAccessNow https://www.dol.gov/agencies/odep/initiatives/ndeam
