Landy spotto on Melbourne SE exurb fringe. -
Every now and then I wonder what ever happened to Helen Dale. I know sooner or later she’ll wind up back in the public eye@liamvhogan probably hanging out with Peter Foster.

How not to respond to a feature request: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/more-focused-slower-updates-not-solved/769880@voltagex strong “opinionated open source developer who believes endless tinkering should be done by everybody because *they* enjoy it” vibes.
The fucking about aspect of HA is the reason I'm not presently using it (it's there, all my devices are there, but the level of dicking required isn't my jam).

An educational institution that doesn’t have lectures can be a lot of things but it can’t IMO be a university.@hugh @liamvhogan :100a: on all counts

An educational institution that doesn’t have lectures can be a lot of things but it can’t IMO be a university.@liamvhogan it's interesting, and this is 100% old man shouts at clouds stuff; I enjoyed lectures back in the olden days when I went to uni, and online doing my Masters, but my experience more recently guesting at both ANU and UC was rather different. Many students didn't bother showing up, those that did spent their time not paying attention to either me or the course teacher.
Adelaide Uni is definitely doing this as a money thing, but I also reckon it's symptomatic of disengagement with what we would have called "the university experience”, which isn't what it once was.
Just another example of the corporatisation of university education. Don't get me started on grading, which is a whole other kettle of fish.

Via @vwdasher this thing looks sick as hell. And it’s a real shame there’s no way it could ever be road registrable because otherwise it would be a huge earner for Pickles Auctions in about five to ten years time@liamvhogan @vwdasher still... options - https://www.polarisaustralia.com
tbqh, I would dig a side-by-side for the property. It would be very useful.

The ads for TRADIE beer are indistinguishable from mid-1990s D-Generation sketches parodying beer ads@liamvhogan underpants companies should not be crossing over into beer. This is the same class of abomination as VB men's cologne.

That’s going to be a prick to clean up.@liamvhogan @Kels_316 @liam @jpm @warkolm definitely.

[looks at the Carlton-Brisbane score]@emmadavidson @franksting @liamvhogan then we move Carlton there. Given you're from the area, you can pick who Urana gets.
-
[looks at the Carlton-Brisbane score]@franksting @emmadavidson @liamvhogan I am in favour of each city having just one team. Merge all the Melbourne-based teams into one and send the other franchises to different places. Who's do say we shouldn't have the Jerilderie Tigers or the Karratha Kangaroos?

Tiny toy chainsaws for the community engagement kit.@liamvhogan see, I can “hire” the 7x5 trailer and the 30t splitter from the Cobargo Tool Triangle for $30/week. So long as I have broken up wood, I am happy to split. And then I can hand split the big suff into usable bits.
-
Tiny toy chainsaws for the community engagement kit.@liamvhogan not even a good technique to letterbox cut them.
Aside: recent wind storms have produced a decent amount of fallen timber. Free accomodation to friends with chainsaws and a few hours to help out. I reckon I have a dozen decent sized black wattles, some grey box, some stringy, and odds and ends that needs turning into 4' logs or rounds.
It's going to take me weeks.

jfc, some people just have no clue.jfc, some people just have no clue. The weather was clearly forecast. Why would you even have done the walk?

Trad Caths are a not a religious group so much as a cosplaying retro aesthetic subculture, in exactly the same vein as the people who grease their hair, wear bomber jackets and listen to rockabilly music, and of the two, it’s the fifties revivalists wh...@liamvhogan timeless

Took apart the espresso machine this morning as it seemed to be leaking.@liamvhogan @jpm hmm, yes. Lots of that happening here…
-
Took apart the espresso machine this morning as it seemed to be leaking.@jpm need that and a kilo or so of beeswax for making my own firelighters.

Took apart the espresso machine this morning as it seemed to be leaking.@jpm oh, I flushed the bejeezus out of it. Your suggestion might be next if it continues making odd noises.

Took apart the espresso machine this morning as it seemed to be leaking.Took apart the espresso machine this morning as it seemed to be leaking. Solenoids and valves were clean, but one seemed jammed, so I freed that up. It's still making occasional weird noises, but its internals are an absolute jungle of wires and tubes, so I'm not going to fuck about beyond my capability.
It's been in the garage for 8 months as it's taken that long for me to get to it. The espresso repair business in the Bega Valley doesn't touch this brand (Breville Oracle).
It may have to come to Melbourne with me in a few weeks if the leak recurs.
