Soooo after a bunch of testing with @poisonous , turns out that even with authorised-fetch enabled (on instance A in the following example), if instance A blocks a user on instance B as an instance-wide block from the admin panel, that block will only ...@thisismissem @welshpixie @ellesaurus I looked over both documents and I might be missing something.
If I blocked you - a 1 on 1 user suspension - it seems to behave the way we'd expect. ie: you, the remote user, can't see or interact with my account or posts. This is good.
However, if indiepocalypse.social blocks you from the moderator panel - an instance on user suspension - then you can still see my posts and interact with them, including replying.
I won't see it or be notified, but you still have access to my feed. In turn other folks - let's say welshpixie - can see your reply and reply to your post, and I'll see what they said to the both of us, but can't see your post.
Why is it the 1 on 1 user-level suspension works the way I expect, but the instance on 1 user doesn't?

Putting this thread on your radar. I'm extremely curious what your thoughts are about the difference between an instance suspending another instance versus an instance suspending a remote account.

She's been working on moderation / security issues, and I'm very curious what her thoughts are.

It's the next day and I'm still blown away that the PS5 Pro doesn't come with a blu-ray drive. It's the next day and I'm still blown away that the PS5 Pro doesn't come with a blu-ray drive.
You'd think the top-of-the-line "pro" console from any manufacturer would include the ability to play physical media out of the box, because your enthusiasts are the ones with shelves full of that physical media.
Instead you're asking for a $80-$100 premium on top of the Pro model to be able to play the PS4 and PS5 games they likely already own.
Xbox releasing a Series X digital and now Sony releasing the PS5 Pro digital really make me think the next gen will be digital-only by default.
There's a major shift coming in the console space. The writing's on the wall. And I wonder what this means for retail? -- Suddenly GameStop's "Retro" initiative starts to make sense.

Ok, so this is very early stage but cool:@Blort Evidently they want to integrate LLMs.

$700 USD?! -
I just realized that Spec Ops: The Line - one of the most thought-provoking shooters ever made - has been completely delisted from all digital storefronts.@killyourfm Hm. I don't know how or why but I have it on Steam.

Saw a TikTok reacting to a Sony CFO (I think?) saying they don't have enough in-house IP, and they listed a bunch of games that aren't owned by Sony but were on PlayStation.@killyourfm Japan Studio, dead. London Studio, dead. 989 Studios, dead. BigBig Studios, dead. Evolution Studios, dead. Guerrilla Cambridge, dead. Incognito, dead. Manchester Studio, as dead as PSVR. Studio Liverpool, dead, Zipper Interactive, dead.

Saw a TikTok reacting to a Sony CFO (I think?) saying they don't have enough in-house IP, and they listed a bunch of games that aren't owned by Sony but were on PlayStation.@killyourfm Yeah, it really is. Don't get me wrong, they have some excellent Western studios under their umbrella. But when you look at what they do...?
- Insomniac - Ratchet & Clank and Spider-Man -- which both got PS5 entries!
- Naughty Dog - They keep remaking The Last of Us or repackaging old Uncharted games.
- Bend Studio - Last game was Days Gone? Haven't touched Syphon Filter or Resistance in a decade.
- San Diego - Exclusively MLB: The Show now, I think?
- Santa Monica - God of War
- Sucker Punch - Moved on from Infamous for Ghosts of Tsushima
- Bluepoint Games - Remakes. Nothing original.
- Firewalk Studios - Concord, which... yeah.
- Guerilla Games - Horizon, which had a PS5 entry!
- Media Molecule - LBP, Tearaway, Dreams, all dead or dying.
- Housemarque - Returnal in 2021. Dunno what they're working on.
- Nixxes - Windows ports of PS games.
That's... it. That's all they have.

Saw a TikTok reacting to a Sony CFO (I think?) saying they don't have enough in-house IP, and they listed a bunch of games that aren't owned by Sony but were on PlayStation.@killyourfm The 2 Japanese developers they have left are Team Asobi who just put out Astro Bot, and Polyphony Digital for Gran Turismo.
And only Polyphony Digital was around for the OG PlayStation. Team Asobi was created as a division of Japan Studio in 2012.
Every other dev they own is a Western studio.

Saw a TikTok reacting to a Sony CFO (I think?) saying they don't have enough in-house IP, and they listed a bunch of games that aren't owned by Sony but were on PlayStation.@killyourfm Honestly? IMO, they're not a development house anymore.
I didn't even know this until recently, but Sony Interactive Entertainment moved out of Japan for San Mateo California in 2016.

Sorry, that wasn't the CFO listing games. It was the person reacting to an article quoting the CFO. Edited my original toot for clarity.

I rolled my eyes but Andrea's gotten heated and keeps asking me if this game or that game was owned by Sony and started angrily chewing her thumbnail. Now she's going to make a list, check who owns the IP, and make a video of her own correcting the post and commenters. :ac_laughter:

Oh really?@killyourfm Maybe a cheaper one? (Naaaaaah.)

But if a nonprofit decides to purchase hardcopy books, scan them in, and create a digital lending program providing works to anyone who asks -- for free, that's checks notes illegal.
