@randomgeek biggest problem is weight, particularly for that chonky macbook pro that work requires

I got my work laptop and I got my personal laptop.@randomgeek most spiffy solutions are basically just stacking trays like that. there are some vertical ones with integrated ports, etc etc. or you can spend a tenth the price for some stacked trays, maybe some spiffy hardwood ones from amazon -
a super weird thing is that `idf.py` is very angry about a python thing.@randomgeek and I got to flex my new found knowledge of `comm` -
a super weird thing is that `idf.py` is very angry about a python thing.@randomgeek ooooooo I see what’s happening. you got me thinking about the environment. The path is getting munged. Damn compiler setup is hiding its _own_ python because of course it is. I’m pretending the thing is hiding a pyenv and that I’m fine with that. -
a super weird thing is that `idf.py` is very angry about a python thing.@randomgeek excellent thought, but no. It’s failing to import the click module. It’s like it’s finding a different python inside than out. And given that this is a mac, there are plenty of pythons to find. But I can’t reproduce that scenario. -
a super weird thing is that `idf.py` is very angry about a python thing.a super weird thing is that `idf.py` is very angry about a python thing. but _only_ if I run it inside tmux. same shell environment, same code, but _no_ tmux and it’s fine. idgi -
I guess maybe I’m learning python for a home thing@randomgeek They’ve also disabled threading so I can’t leverage the multi-core boards I have. Which means I can’t use circuitpython for those use cases…. So maybe I’m back to plan “learn freertos”. -
I guess maybe I’m learning python for a home thing@randomgeek new microcontrollers just arrived and they all support circuitpython out of the box. I could go write my usual C or maybe learn FreeRTOS. but maybe instead I could learn python and have another marketable skill. -

grunge: the genre that ate its young@djsundog less eating and more heroin overdoses and suicide and aids -
ooooohhhh I remember this me.@randomgeek that is basically what I’m doing now, yes. partner is asleep down the hall so I’m doing the “excellent headphones, spinning in the living room” sort of thing. Joys of stimming. -
ooooohhhh I remember this me.ooooohhhh I remember this me. this is the me that used to break autism hermit mode and go to raves because they were so disregulated and christ a rave was a good way to burn off energy. that was a long ass time ago. this body can’t go to raves anymore. -
continues to be amazing how much more settled I am with a pad of paper and pen by my side, rather than a text editor on the laptop, for day to day notes and thoughts. figuring out self-regulation is hard and help comes from the weirdest places.@djsundog yup. perforated b6 in 5mm grid and a ballpoint for me -

I know this isn't necessarily a universal experience, but does anybody else have trouble writing a self-assessment without exposing your self-esteem issues rawer than a sunburn at a nude beach?@randomgeek I have this experience and just make note of it in the review. if they’re going to ding me for having self-esteem issues, well, it’d be interesting to be fired for having self-esteem issues -
dammit people put agendas on your invites@randomgeek oh if only people had one to put -
Moonrise.@randomgeek that’s a great shot -
learned something recently.learned something recently. when they yank out your gallbladder, they tell you that without a gallbladder, you can’t handle as much fat as you could before. Obviously. The gallbladder’s entire job is to store bile and provide it on-demand when you eat some cheese or whatever to deal with the fat content. They tell you that eating too much fat will result in unfortunate runs to the restroom and yeah it totally does that. And that in most folks, particularly AMAB, your gut biome will adjust and you can go back to life as was.
What they don’t tell you, or at least no one told me, that the lack of gallbladder affects gastric emptying, the amount of time it takes for food to leave your stomach and move on its merry way. Think about it this way. If you’re washing a plate and I give you soap one drop at a time, it’s gonna take fucking forever to wash that plate. Sure you might give up and send it on down the line anyway but maybe you’ll stay there for a month washing that plate out of goddamn spite.
And that’s what my stomach is doing. Taking forever to wash that plate because fuck you and that’s a lot of why I have GERD. So, dietary changes, yeah? Gotta find … different… safe foods…. you can feel me tensing up and getting ready to run out of the room, can’t you? different… safe foods… fuck. -
Hacker friends:@mwl something with an under-developed underlying spec, inconsistently implemented, usually tied to something a vendor knows. this is not the “hardware key” implementation you’re looking for. in my opinion. rip my mentions.
