- purchasing a gun adds you to a list that potential fascists in power can access and target you for

- having a firearm at a protest or other public event makes you a target for any potential violent resistance to that event (cops, white nationalists, etc.)

- having a firearm makes vulnerable people feel less safe with you more often than it makes them feel more safe with you

reasons why "just buy a gun" is a horrible solution for ANY minority:

- carrying a firearm in public makes you appear more threatening which can escalate nonviolent situations into violent ones

- firearms are absolutely incapable of doing anything good. at best they can be a harm reduction and that's rather generous

- proper firearm use requires training and regular practice; guns can be dangerous to the wielder otherwise
