The first derivative of a function f(x)
is frequently written as f'(x)
. Both of these have a basically canonical pronunciation in English ("f of x", "f prime of x").
Extending this notation, the second derivative can be written f''(x)
. How do you pronounce that verbally? (and, if applicable, how do you pronounce it mentally?)
If you've never seen this notation before, and you don't know how to pronounce it, please don't search for a correct answer. If you think a certain pronunciation is intuitive, but haven't heard it anywhere else, please do answer; I'd like to hear non-standard variations as long as they make sense.

Apparently Meta is afraid of Pixelfed.@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] this smells slightly fishy (but just slightly) because like, that post is so concise and there's not a smidgen of legitimate concern you could find to justify what an algorithm might've thought was wrong with it. it's difficult to attributes ignorance to what only resembles pure malice. and I feel that if they genuinely want to silence this kind of stuff, they wouldn't be sending notifications like this admitting to it. because holy shit that looks bad for them.
has anyone else reproduced this result? i don't want to believe it just at face value from one person because, despite how much I may hate facebook, I do genuinely think they would be more competent at hiding their actions than depicted. -
Goodbye Information@[email protected]
it's worth noting that this is a poorly truncated page title. it seems to be fixed in Google's search index by now, since I could not observe the same truncation point, but still lol. here's the full titleFirefox Browser Launches Orbit AI Assistant: Say Goodbye to Information Overload and Embrace an Efficient Browsing Experience!
