The horrible Apple ad is a good opportunity to highlight one of the amazing but also highly impactful animations by Steve Cutts.
In this video featured on the official music clip of "Are you lost in the world like me?" by Moby and The Void Pacific Choir.
Content warning: animation contains scene relating to suicide.

Download YouTube Search Fixer for Firefox. Remove ALL distracting search results, redirect shorts back to legacy page and try little visual changes suited for low resolution screens.

@tyil fair points. I am suggesting emoji should be usable as hashtags, but not prescribing how they are best used. Like for public square broadcasts.
I have use cases for them, and they are in the realm of "personal social networking" where people know the context and meaning.
@tyil thus far only streams app supports them.
Why use emoji at all? I'm in favor of a culture that gives more care to emoji's rather than carelessly strewing them around.
They can convey meaning well, like the "boosts appreciated" custom emoji. They can be used in addition to other textual hashtags that aren't always as accessible in their meaning either. There are cultures around emoji use, that give meaning in certain contexts, and those cultures are part of social fabric and cohesion then.
Gender meanders beautifully. Why do folks wanna dam it in, make it straight? What's wrong with them? Rigid flow imagined in rigid minds. Unnatural.
@alcinnz depends how fresh it is
@hazelnoot neither on Mastodon. It does not recognize as a hashtag link in the web UI.
Hey, which #ActivityPub app allows an #emoji to be used as a #hashtag?

Seeing the reactions to the ad, it was clear that they would've to scramble back. And they did, apparently. But the ad was telling for their perspective on things.. crushing creativity in cold-hearted tech devices. Sign of the times.
Let apples be # again..
Congratulations on your funding, Sarven
Dokieli is a most interesting fedi project that ventures beyond regular social media use cases that still dominate the field. Thus an application that invites exploring new areas of the social web, where there exists great potential. Thank you for your efforts!
Imho AP serves more as a kind of "protocol framework", and it still must be completed to be fully production-ready. Current early adopters are all working with alpha versions and flavours thereof.
Ohh, those are nice finds.
Looking in the SE github org, there's also their Design System, and it is MIT-licensed.
Stack Overflowโs Design System. Contribute to StackExchange/Stacks development by creating an account on GitHub.
GitHub (github.com)
That can be a) giving a good headstart in designing an alternative, and b) depending on how it is exactly licensed, be great to "fork" the brand assets (if they are also just MIT, they maybe aren't protected as they usually are).
@hrefna exactly.
For those who come with these big statements, a good start would be to see if and how they can instigate a small change first. Or these utterings ring kind of hollow. Cries of frustration at best.
Gotta say.. just Wow! What a behavior this shows. Literally stamping on an idea. Bringing full authority to bear and minimize any chance of people more broadly starting to muse on merits and possible drawbacks to take into account. Absolutely toxic stuff.
I like the title. Though I consider "autonomous" be a tease and small barb towards traditional corporate non-social Social Media.
"Autonomous" is like automated, robotic in the visual image I get when hearing the title. But that's the fun there. Fedi is about autonomous people doing the things they love, and on their own free volition. No algorithmic steering and influencing there. So the exact opposite of that mental picture.
You could make that a theme in the presentation visuals.
