@dentangle all participants know that
and it makes sense what you say
but the legal reality doesn't concern itself with these things. They're no longer liable once you signed it off

@dentangle you're signing you received the package and the package and it's contents are intact and have been properly handled. Their duty and their liability is officially completed once you confirm everything is okay.
Did you fully inspect the package and its contents? Realistically no.
Your signature is valid even if it's an "x" or otherwise unreadable. It's the intent and it's legally binding.
At least that's what it's like in germany

@Natanox i don't know how this specific program works but you could copy this disk into an .iso and virtually mount that.
Then you have a second "drive" with that dvd "in". No promises that this works with every program ever. It worked with the workout disk my sister and I use.
I remember I did that under windows (somehow).
Probably on gnu/linux you can directly dd from disk to a file and later mount that file as disk no external tools or knowledge needed.

@yacc143 @TomDB @petergleick @chris for twitter via regular cable this is quite easy.
Starlink (if anyone even uses it there) does not want to comply despite having shown capabilities in the past. It's the musing of a madman who thinks he's above the law.
In a way this is a good thing.
Billionaires act outside the law but only one of them is stupid enough to make big media fuzz out of it.
For billionaires there are no laws like kings of old time
@yacc143 @TomDB @petergleick @chris I don't know what jurisdiction musk pretends to be in.
The case for brazil is clear. Real lawyers thought about it and the results are in.
I know freedom of speech from my country (germany)
Hate was never tolerated
Sedition was never tolerated
Disproven falsehoods were never tolerated.
I can't claim toothpaste heals cancer (lie) or the jews cause cancer (hate) or say so to incite rebel (sedition).
Every "Freedom" needs a limit to self-preserve
@TomDB @petergleick @chris in the eyes of his stans this looks like a righteous act of rebellion and pretection of whatever definition of "free speech" they use to justify the rampant hate speech
@JessiCum @pluralistic @futurebird @ethanjstark further I want to note that most of this is no accident. Destroying the usability of public resources or making useful sites harder to find is a purpose in and of itself for many groups.
Most notably I want to name the "flood the zone with shit" approach which is also a threat to reason and democracy itself. When everything is subjective and everyone is a bot hey maybe I'm not so sure anymore the earth not being flat or corona is serious etc
@JessiCum @pluralistic @futurebird @ethanjstark in the years in which I used the internet so far I developed skills in how to use the internet, which broad categories of websites or search strategies are to be avoided, where to click, what to block in uMatrix, how to leverage third party websites to gain useful information where search engines fail etc.
It would be better if this skill were to be unnecessary. It creates a barrier for everyone including new users (e. g. my parents or kids)
