Many services host thousands of users and access from the same IP.
This rate limit has a crippling effect (Currently we are not launching a major Bluesky release exactly for that reason)
Bad actors can easily overcome per-IP rate limits so this only hurts good actors
If you want to gate access then by all means, one way is to not allow account creation through apps, but don't do global per-ip rate limits

@dansup Not sure what you are using, but try AWS SES, it requires a bit of work upfront but beats the competition

Oh, invoice generation is simple, you click a button and send it ..... and in 99% of the cases it's automatically sent.
The issue is on the receiving end, it's a nightmare to reconcile all the invoices, that's why I do it once a year, if I had to do this each day/week I would hate each and every day of the year
I don't think I agree with the tweets though ("after an operation")
I think for the most part these are ordinary people closing their account, over the last two days I have seen many people posting they are closing their account

It is a noticeable but not huge. This has been the case for a while though, small noticeable waves of people leaving after an event (Brazil, UK, block button, AI issue) chipping at it a little at a time.
I have talked to many users who find X best for them because other platforms are not welcoming (AI crowd, crypto crowd etc) and also others who find better engagement on other platforms, so it's a mixed bag.

I will just add that any form to move away from pdf invoices is a step in the right direction.
It's a massive pain to do accounting at the end of the year, expense tracking should be the easiest thing to do in 2024, you shouldn't need to hire a "book keeper" to enter the receipts for you, and you shouldn't need to hunt them down in your mailbox either
I applaud the EU for standardizing this, to me this sounds like USB-C
