@linux_mclinuxface @bouncing in my ham-handed electronics work (well below amateur, but above smashing rocks together) I've decided that SMD components, while nice for making compact devices, have got to go.
Nearly un-maintainable. Needing to rework some older devices and replace caps or diodes, or anything... hole-through is so much easier for my bad eyes and poor dexterity to desolder and re-solder.
I have a device with a micro-usb power port that came off. Prob can't fix it. Barrel jack

I know several people who will be very interested in keeping their medical devices functional.
Communication, lighting, tools.
Societal collapse can take many forms and degrees of effect. And will likely not be distributed equally. And not everyone will be on-board with a fantasy of return to an idealized pre-industrial, agrarian, hunter/gatherer existence, especially if that means they and many people they know have to just give up.
But... all this spoils the fun
