That old joke about IT professionals only keeping a printer in their home together with a gun to shoot the printer if it starts making funny noises has rapidly become a lot more relevant.

Millennial Spooky Stories:@rooster In the civilised parts of the world, account numbers specifically have one or two extra digits to catch simple entry errors.

sigh it's gonna be one of those days, isn't it@sjolsen This is usually a sign of it expecting regexen in a dialect different from what you expected it to expect. Check the manual; you probably just have to escape, or un-escape, some things in particular ways.

Just had the repairpeople from the local electronics store over to look at my broken washing machine, and it's such a breath of fresh air to deal with *competent* repairpeople...@joepie91 If that's the case, other types of grain can probably do it. The critical parts would be having the starchy body, having a hard shell, and having the right size. Pasta pieces don't have the shell, but non-rice grains, if they happen to be the right size, would have both the shell and the starchy body.

The Lebanese eBay must be going through some very interesting times, I reckon.

Especially grains, but possibly also some types of pasta.

Kamala Harris *should* offer sex reassignment surgeries to undocumented immigrants and inmates, along with all other forms of healthcare for literally everyone@ramonita Yes!

WTF.I have been unable to replicate the potential HFS+ issues; it's probably just that my powered USB hub also has trouble powering both sticks at once.
-
WTF.Upon closer debugging, there might be an issue with the HFS+ code in Linux. :blobcatsweat:

WTF.@toni (Also, I only now noticed the mistaken Mr where it should have been Ms. I guess I might have been trying to subconsciously put Mrs in or something. Anyway, fixed.)
-
WTF.@toni I really think misogyny is only secondary, or maybe even tertiary, here. They seem to be trying to emphasise the NFC trait of thinking that things β such as people β have Simple, Immutable, and Obvious permanent nature, and suggesting that Ms Harris is deceptively hiding this supposed Permanent Nature of hers.
The catch is, I don't think the sort of people who genuinely believe this crap are a significant voter base of Harris anyway. It's probably mostly a preaching-to-the-choir fake scandal effort.
-
WTF.WTF. Apparently, some Pumpkinistas are trying to make a scandal out of Ms Harris' register-switching, as though they think her voters don't know how Customer Service Voice works. :blobcatrollingeyes:

I re-read Winnie-the-Pooh, and it's kind of sad to realise that before they even started to loo for the North Pole, they had already undertaken two anti-immigrant actions: chasing down the Woozles, trying to trap the Heffalump in a deep hole, and plott...I also now understand the sadness of the Enchanted Place in a way that I didn't when I first read the book.

PSA: pagers are not secure. Messages are sent in effectively plain text and anybody can intercept them.@GossiTheDog Once upon a time, the concept of a ping of death was just a morbid joke, but technology has advanced by leaps and bounds since then.

WTF.WTF. Looks like Raspberry Pi 4 is incapable of delivering adequate power to two Kingston Data Traveller USB sticks at the same time. :blobcatfacepalm:
