Something I really appreciate about the #ActivityPublishing protocol is that it allows formatting in the text of posts, so even though you might be on a vanilla #Mastodon server that hasn't yet implemented be bold and italic text and inline links that other front ends have, or might even still only allow 500 characters in a post, you can still see that formatting and read those long posts because the software still knows how to read it.

I'd like vanilla Mastodon to eventually support actually putting formatting in posts, on top of the various quote systems that people have implemented, but it's good that it's at least compatible at this point.
