That 'analysis' article quotes only other Guardian articles. The articles quoted almost always cite only US sources. Do you have any other sources?
Surely someone's seen troop trains? Satellite pictures of deployments? Ukrainian drone pictures, even?
The numbers also seem to vary, starting with 1500 and then 3000 and then 5000 and then 8000 and possibly even 10,000 people.
I don't really see the point in a propaganda war here - it's not like we needed more reason to denounce Russia's attack on Ukraine. I'm not sure why they'd be making up this even just to make it look good.
But I'm wary of just believing US sources.
