@atax1a Oh but apparently it doesn't work with satellite TV so once again I can't use it…

I wonder if I should try power line ethernet to try and get a bit better throughput on my laptop (while docked) and NAS.@atax1a I actually found a coax run curled up in my closet that's been disused since well before I moved in (although hopefully still connected), maybe I can go full MoCA…

I wonder if I should try power line ethernet to try and get a bit better throughput on my laptop (while docked) and NAS.@atax1a Yeah, I mean that makes sense if you want to have TVs in the bedroom and route either a roof-mounted OTA antenna or cable to each. I'm guessing the people who lived here just cheaped out on getting cables run (at least they have one that was suitable for the cable modem for internet…)

I wonder if I should try power line ethernet to try and get a bit better throughput on my laptop (while docked) and NAS.@atax1a Yeah, as I mentioned it's supposedly super variable based on your particular wiring (and what you have plugged in since low-quality switching power supplies spew high frequency noise onto the lines). And I guess I could theoretically use MoCA for my NAS because it's right next to the satellite TV box which is the only other coax run in the house other than the one to the cable modem

I guess the main thing I've heard is to make sure it's possible to return them in case it doesn't work well, since it's so variable depending on your particular wiring

But, they dislike or are ambivalent about all of Firefox other than it having functional adblock and no AI crap (as do I, Firefox sucks a lot), but then half of them said they switched back to Chrome because Mozilla started releasing AI crap and didn't see why they should bother.
So all the people who say “oh Normal People either don't care about AI or actively like it and Mozilla is just trying to expand their userbase” are just lying. Once you get out of the perpetually online sphere you do see a lot fewer people vehemently against AI, but I also have never once met anyone who actually really liked it (at best people tentatively use it for a few things). And Mozilla is actively making the browser as bad as possible and pushing people who don't care about what browser they use beyond a few features away
