@emsquared Ah that’s weird, I have no clue why the aspect ratio would be changed. Mine got processed without issue after a while, but it was inserted in the feed retroactively so I was buried under a ton of videos haha; oh well, it’s the early days

#Loops@emsquared I agree, the app needs a lot of work
Your video might be processing, you can check the status here: https://loops.video/dashboard/videos
Mine is stuck in the process for a hour now

#Loops@emsquared @BmeBenji The error message is not great, but check the video size: the current limit is 90MB, and it might be why the longer videos don’t go through. You can use a compression app or send it to yourself on messaging app (Whatsapp, Telegram) to make sure you fit in the limit

Why do people go to Bluesky?@hongminhee I’m super happy you brought up the subject, it was super interesting to see the reasons that where brought up
Related to the feeling of being isolated, I think a downside for a lot of people is actually the lack of algorithm; having to curate your feed yourself to get relevant posts is kinda hard especially if your interests are niche (or even on a less popular timezone since everything is chronological), and the limited search doesn’t help on top of that, like you rightfully pointed out
I would love to see more fediverse project experiment with recommendation and algorithm, maybe optional like Bluesky does
There is lot of hate for algorithms on Fedi (a lot of them justified), but without them making the fediverse compete with VC funded social media for a broad demographic is like making a natural bodybuilder compete with a steroid user
Thank you once again for starting this thread!

Hi from @loops on AndroidHi from @loops on Android
Can't upload anything for now but I'm super happy to finally interact with it -
Just a reminder that 0% of fediverse admins took on debt to support their communities. -
@NIGHTEN@stefan Ah yes of course I thought the same about the signature; it’s completely okay, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the topic
And that’s a cool blog you have here btw! Take care

@NIGHTENSome other arguments that speak to me:
- Less saturation: You’re not competing as much for people’s attention, which for me remove the pressure to join trends and challenges and just focus on the work
- Old content and reposts are welcome: since there is no algorithm to punish you for posting the same content people are genuinely happy to see your old art again or a piece they missed in their chronological feed. No need to grind to get something out
- More ways to express yourself: especially relevant to Instagram people, but the ability to post text, polls and links is really freeing; and all of that again without algo punishment

@NIGHTEN@stefan It’s okay! As a fellow non-native English speaker I can relate, and you’re doing really well
What made me raise an eyebrow was that the center argument of the short post is the Mutual Aid culture, because even if the solidarity is a great thing it’s putting a lot of emphasis on the money/donation side; while I feel like there is room for plenty more arguments. Obviously I know you said this in good faith; and I think the paragraph would have been completely fine as part of a bigger piece, that might be just it
In any case, thank you for what you’re doing!
