I put the custom theme outside, and linked it. The custom theme have not be removed , but the link will still lost when I install or unstall a pugin
More information My partner have not this issue, and we using different OS (linux & Window 10 )and NodeBB verison(1.16 & 1.17)

29/4 update, the issue will happen on linux

I copied a theme from persona, then rename it (include some value in .json file).

The issue caused -- When I install or unstall pugin (eg. nodebb-plugin-custom-pages), the custom theme will be removed(in other words, the theme reverted to the 4 main theme).

The custom theme is under the path: /nodebb/node_modules

Is there any mistake I maked?

@dunlix In my case, changed value to 3 or 5, after pressing the save settings and Rebuild and restart, the "Max slides to show for carousel" is reverted to 4 (refresh the page)...

However, i think i need to modify the code would be better.
Because I have a question now, if I need 2 recent cards with different layout, for example, one in header (eg. Recent created) with 2 slides and font-style A, one in footer (eg. Most posts) with 3 slides and font-style B or other style.

How should I do for updating the max slide from 4 to 5?
Can I revise the plugin directly in .js?
Which file should I update?

@pitaj I prefer to use the plugin. Just in case, if i need to make some function myself, it have better base on existing plugin.

For further knowledge, is it possible to achieve this theme without plugin?

Hello, I am new to nodeBB. I want to achieve the layout like above theme, how can I start with? and what files (.tpl, .less) should be edited?

And I want to do more csutom layout/theme, should I use the plugin(eg. nodebb-plugin-custom-pages). Or, start with "nodebb-theme-quickstart" ( Quickstart your NodeBB theme development ). I don't know to edit the layout/theme/ .less for custom-pages, and no idea to start with.

Could anyone gice me some suggestion? Thanks a lot.
