Tech can improve and still follow morals and legality. Yes, sometimes harder. Yes, sometimes it's slower. But it also results in something that is more hardened and better for humanity overall.

And I hate to give a "slippery slope" type argument, but it really is an honest truth that he more freedom you give companies to bypass laws, the worse they get

@inthehands It is truly simply amazing how hard it seems for society to get this basic, fundamental thing.

Somehow companies have been pushing hard at making "AI" somehow "not their fault." It's the user's fault if something goes wrong or the people who wrote bad things in the stuff they illegally stole and profited from without permission from the original owners or payment to them.

It's really amazing how this forceful "full steam ahead" way seems to have prevented them from being liable.

We once fought a major war just to stop them. America even has fought other wars (and "police actions") to supposedly spread democracy.

Now America is pro-fascism.

Apparently this rot has been seething below the surface for some time. I admit to the privilege of not noticing it. I can only hope that by coming out into the open, people now recognize it to stop it once and for all.

@froge @risottobias @cR0w How is someone who got a car going to know that they even need to read manual entries about their keyfob? It's a keyfob. Who expects it to have hidden features?

Again, such a thing is surprisingly simple: just print it on the back of the keyfob.

@froge @risottobias @cR0w Have you looked at a car manual? Hundreds of pages of fine print, most of which you'll never need for the entire duration of owning the car. (Seriously, most could be cut down to "use this amount of oil," "use these size bulbs in components x, y, and z," and "these are the fuse listings." Maybe one or two other things, but you get the idea. Like 30 pages instead of 400.)

But this is pretty darned important. It should be labeled ON the keyfob probably.

I want to see him face one trial, get sentenced for the things that he did, and actually have to at least serve part of the sentence before he dies from the effects of the dementia.

@lawyersgunsnmoney @Strandjunker I swear, at this point I would just be happy to see him actually go to trial for ONE of his numerous major crimes. Any one of the ones that would send him to jail even if only for a short time. I think he couldn't take it if he went to jail.

Honestly, with how fast his mind is currently going, I really doubt he has much longer to live. I'd just like to see him actually declared guilty and sentenced for one of his crimes before he dies from the dementia.

@pthane @RickiTarr It's funny isn't it? Somehow the right has people believing all this is crazy, untested stuff that can't possibly work and would probably even completely destroy the economy.

Meanwhile like 99% of the rest of the world has been doing this for ages and is looking at us in complete confusion that this country is like this.

No, not even in safer states. It's that bad. The red states are working on cross-state tracking even at this stage.
