https://pad.public.cat/D0sRexLgTlmdcxlSnbDA3QFollowing on a suggestion from Nico Rikken in the Energy Dev room, I've bashed together this super-lofi “dashboard" (ahem) for some of the rooms:

Anyone can edit and improve it. If you know someone to tag, with a room, please do.

Hey gang.@pikesley @floppy @Edent @andypiper you’re pushing it Sam, with your extravagant demands, but I shall I see what I can do.

Hey gang. -
Hey gang.Hey gang. I've arrived in Brussels for #fosdem
My tips for getting a lot out of it:
Have a list of events ahead of time! My fave to use is
https://fosdem.sojourner.rocks/2025/It lets you share your schedule with others.
Also, use the https://nav.fosdem.org map. It gives you routes between rooms at the event, let's you hyperlink anywhere on the campus. It's v handy!
Here’s the link to a post with a few more, and a link to the sessions I'll be at:

Enjoy!

I want to take this article and replace every mention of the term word “AI”, with “Expensive External Consultants and Systems Integrators”, because it's strategically about as smart.I want to take this article and replace every mention of the term word “AI”, with “Expensive External Consultants and Systems Integrators”, because it's strategically about as smart.
Sure, there are some places where AI and machine learning can be helpful and very valuable, but this blind faith in a piece of tech, when you see something like an 80% failure rate for internal AI projects (see the rand corp report in next post) should be ringing SO many alarm bells.

Why should there be a WordPress Sustainability Group?@paulox @chris @thibaudcolas ahoy! Thanks for suggesting this! We’ve sort of been using the Wagtail project as a place to prototype how groups might work because we know there is definite interest there and buy-in at a board level.
However, I want to understand more how time and money is raised, and allocated first inside a larger project like Django (or even Python), so I’ve applied to join the Django fundraising WG as a first step.

Would anyone be interested in hiring/sponsoring me to build a custom registration flow for Mastodon which supports collecting payments for the account.TBH, knowing there was a clear way to pay to support the service that was nicely integrated into it from the get go would make me *more* likely to want to join the Hachyderm instance.
This is because I’d feel like there was a lower chance of me to having to plan a disruptive migration when it runs out of money.
I pay a token amount to Mastodon.social but until you shared the numbers in another post I didn’t realise how expensive running a biggish instance might be per user.

Would anyone be interested in hiring/sponsoring me to build a custom registration flow for Mastodon which supports collecting payments for the account.@thisismissem I think this would be a really good idea. The idea of paying money for stuff is good thing, and even in Star Trek people occasionally use money to pay for stuff.
Have you looked into grant applications at all? A prototype fund grant as freelancer in Germany is what started me off rebooting $WORKPLACE into a thing that employs ppl now.

Oh neat!Oh neat! If you follow #FOSDEM - we now have 7 devrooms interested in doing indoor CO2 monitor thing! WOOT!
Here's the pad we're using to coordinate. If you are organising a devroom, or planning go to one at fosdem and would like to see some info about indoor CO2 (i.e. a rough proxy for air quality used for public health), then you can add yourself to the list below:

Is there a good reason why the doors upstairs can not be kept open to reduce CO2 and airborne virus levels at #38c3 ?@akareilly this got me thinking. There's so much info out there now about CO2 levels as leading indicators for all kinds of bad stuff in rooms.
It's not that hard to improve on the default level of info available to ppl to act on, if data is the issue (I know that it often isn’t, but it does get brought up as a reason to not to stuff).
Do you know any events that make this visible to attendees?
