@octothorpe Yeah. These all feel like artificial limitations, not technical ones. I remember an old hack where you were able to use the official YouTube app on older iOS versions by editing a line in one of the app’s files and fooling it into believing that your device had a slightly newer iOS version installed… *smh*

Still looking for a text macro expander on a per-app basis.@sanguish I had to take a look because the snippets I need expanded are usually system-wide. It seems that in the app’s Settings you can create an exclusion list (“Never expand abbreviations in one of these applications:”), but I’ve also seen that you can create separate folders of snippets and each folder has its own settings. Looking into these settings, it would appear that you can set the snippets contained in that folder to expand in certain applications. Not 100% sure.

Still looking for a text macro expander on a per-app basis.@sanguish The moment TextExpander… expanded its scope to become something more than just fast and convenient text snippet expansion (and become much worse in the process, as you can see), I abandoned ship.
I found a great alternative that works just like good old TextExpander used to work — Rocket Typist: https://witt-software.com/rockettypist/

This was a good Monday. This was a good Monday. Probably the first good Monday since the start of the year. I had no work assignments. My wife took the day off work to run some errands that couldn’t be rescheduled, and I helped her out. It was a mostly ‘tech-less’ day, where we both ‘touched grass’ as they say. In a word, it felt like a treat.
The thing is, a day like this should feel more like the norm. I’m certain that this wouldn’t bore me at all. And anyway, I’ll take boredom over stress anytime.

This kind of self-censorship is because I usually think that if I only have a few words to say about something, then this something isn’t ultimately worth talking about.
I’m changing my mind about this as of late. Sometimes 2-3 paragraphs are all you can say about something without necessarily being shallow. So maybe I’ll publish more brief posts.

It’s 2024, and I still don’t remember the iOS screenshot button sequence on the first try. I swear it amd USB-A are in cahoots.@octothorpe Another reason why I hate that iPhones have lost a proper Home button. On my iPhone SE 3 that still has it, the screenshot shortcut is still the good old Home + Sleep/Wake button. When my wife asks me how to do it on her iPhone 11, I NEVER remember.
(Another reason I love the old iPhone design is that gestures are easier: swipe up from the bottom to invoke Control Centre; swipe down from the top for Notification Centre, no spatial fiddling to get one or the other.)
