This argument presumes both that the writing of working class and marginalized people is less valuable unless it matches the style of wealthy people, and that they cannot...@jenniferplusplus what are you referring to when saying publishers insert AI between workers and their work? (genuinely curious, and if I come across as a sealion, I am happy to launder my question through an LLM :blobfoxcute: )

I was reacting to the statement that writers are not seeking it out. I certainly know of some and am on discords of amateur writers that… have a blast making stories.

Since I don’t understand mastodon or I might have gotten blocked, here’s why saying that me using llms is just choosing convenience at the cost of the environment is yet another form of ableism.Since I don’t understand mastodon or I might have gotten blocked, here’s why saying that me using llms is just choosing convenience at the cost of the environment is yet another form of ableism.
#llms have completely changed my work life balance, my career, daily quality of life, and while I wouldn't phrase it that way, I can vibe with needing ai to "survive".

There is also a really vibrant scene of people building and using tools like sillytavern or having absolutely massive elaborate rpg world building setups. I think that’s writing too.

Jesus, even NaNoWriMo has decided to get it wrong for no good reason.@ajroach42 @sam @forestine I can see that. I know plenty of writers who have to *hide* because they are using AI tools. I benefit so much from AI tools due to (at least that's what I can trace it to) my neurodivergence. There are plenty of uses of text models that don't entail "ripping off other artists work".
