@[email protected] Slightly off topic but with Google abdicating it's role in search does that leave the door open for Bing? I know Bing is still the butt of many jokes and Microsoft is racing towards everything AI along with everyone else, but will someone in Redmond sense the opportunity?

The antidote to AI destroying the web is to strengthen human connection and to make those connections a fundamental part of the open web. Quickly. -
The problem with Mastodon is that it's software not a service. The problem with Mastodon is that it's software not a service. That's where all the confusion starts.
@Gargron shouldve called the flagship instance something completely different. [insert platform name here] built on Mastodon. But of course hindsight is 20/20 and no one could've predicted the great migration. Perhaps people would've joined a Mastodon site as they previously browsed web sites? #mastodon #fediverse -

Well, I got my first white supremacist reply from the fediverse after posting an article about Elon from Flipboard.@[email protected] @islekcaganmert @tchambers @greg @stux @Gargron Myself and a couple of other small instance admins maintain a Signal group. I think the tools are already in place someone just needs to bring everyone together under one umbrella. The idea of an admins only moderation channel though is somewhat naive. Would all admins be able to participate? Even the ones getting banned? If not who decides who participates? Does that start to look like centralization?

I've said it a thousand times, corporate stock buy backs should be illegal. Just watched an interview with Sully Sullenburger re the situation at Boeing. "They spent a lot of money on stock buybacks instead of re-investing in safety and engineering"Sto...Stock buybacks are always done under the guise of rewarding the sharehders. That is complete BS, you can more effectively reward shareholders with a dividend. Stock buybacks are about inflating share values so executives can claim bonuses. It's a total gift and its so easy to fix.

"They spent a lot of money on stock buybacks instead of re-investing in safety and engineering"Stock buybacks were at one time illegal because it creates an artificial market environment. It's insider trading on steroids. Governments everywhere need to stop abdicating the regulatory responsibilies. It's literally killing people.

Sync works really well but unfortunately it renders a lot of pages innacurately in both mobile and desktop modes. I'm on the latest Samsung flip, running the latest update. It's unusable for a lot of sites which means I'll have to find a different daily driver on mobile. -
I have sent the Social Media manager for the CBC an e-mail urging her to start a Mastodon instance on behalf of the public broadcaster. :cbc:I have sent the Social Media manager for the CBC an e-mail urging her to start a Mastodon instance on behalf of the public broadcaster. :cbc:
