@wdlindsy @lolonurse @Huntn00 Also, you said it right: 'have' degrees - for moneyed brats. Not quite the same as earned degrees.

"After the June debate that so clearly exposed Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, news coverage questioning his competence to hold office for another term was seemingly never-ending, and for good reason.@wdlindsy Agreed, except that there never was a Biden 'cognitive decline' above or beyond normal aging. There was a loss of effective ability to communicate - a very different beast. Joe continues to be sharp as a razor - he just doesn't always manage to get the word out. Which is fatal in campaigning. But he continues to function as one of the best presidents ever.

"What Harris appeared to understand, better than anyone else who has debated Trump, is that the key to defeating him is to trigger him psychologically. She did it by repeatedly calling him 'weak,' mocking him, acting bemused by him, and literally laugh...@wdlindsy "(I confess, I did not want her to shake his hand—not because I thought it was a tactical mistake, but because I didn’t want her to have to touch him.)"
I forgive her.

When I was growing up, I heard lots of talk about Hitler. "How could anyone have listened to that madman rant and have believed what he said?" people would ask, shaking their heads sadly.@wdlindsy Wasn't that already after the Nazis were in control? About the final coup, yes, that's precisely how it went. Also a warning for today.

When I was growing up, I heard lots of talk about Hitler. "How could anyone have listened to that madman rant and have believed what he said?" people would ask, shaking their heads sadly.@wdlindsy Only 33% of Germans voted for Hitler... that's a lot better than Trump's 46-47%. Perhaps the difference is that the corporate media is largely 'gleichgeschaltet' already before the election.

Just to state the obvious:@inthehands What about separating the functions of hosting and moderation? Moderation policies to be subscribed to on-line, with operators for combining them.

I'm delighted to report that after years of grinding, semi-known author AR Moxon has picked up a major bag. The Reframe introduces FastCheck®, the first Fact Checker that checks facts fast and first to make sure they come out factist without truth bias. https://www.the-reframe.com/those-factist-facts-2/

I appreciate that, as a distinguished and ethical journalist, Margaret Sullivan refuses to relent in her ongoing critique of the colossal failure of US corporate media at this critical juncture in history.@wdlindsy The one thing that gives me most hope about the Harris-Walz campaign is how they actually understand this and have internalized that the corporate media are no longer the 'fourth estate' but part of the enemy they have to defeat, replace, neutralize and/or circumvent. It's a tall order, but so far they are doing everything right.
BTW this is one place where Harris's Blackness informs her.

"Today, Rich Lowry, the editor of National Review (the flagship conservative magazine founded by William F. Buckley Jr.), published an article claiming that Donald Trump could win the 2024 election 'on character.'”@wdlindsy "If George W. Bush had indeed been, as some people breathlessly speculated on social media, the much-rumored special guest on Thursday, it’s possible that he would have been greeted by a chorus of boos, or that enough Democrats would make a stink that his appearance would have overshadowed the themes of joy and unity the planners wanted to project during the week."
Or then, they already had a full quota of war criminals.

"You might think the Democrats’ surge occurred in spite of their posture toward legacy media.@wdlindsy What I mean is, very concretely, doing a 'fact check' using a Trump denial as the 'fact' to check against. I've seen at least three such 'fact checks' by different outlets. It is obviously co-ordinated.

"You might think the Democrats’ surge occurred in spite of their posture toward legacy media.@wdlindsy They are all doing it. Destroying their country for tax cuts.

That time Diane Feinstein stood up at a cop funeral and got a standing ovation for publicly shaming Kamala Harris, who had kept a campaign promise to avoid the death penalty, even for a cop killer@seachanger @darius Would parroting Zionist lies fall in the same category?
