@jwildeboer @Richard_Littler Yep, again anecdotally the GenZ-ers I know are definitely far less enthused by either drugs or alcohol than earlier generations were.

And that's something I find amazing, given the world circumstances they're living in.

Us GenX-ers had the Cold War and the rise of neo-liberalism to want to escape from. Boomers were just, well, experimenting. Given everything that's happening *gesticulates wildly at the world* I would forgive any youngster these days for wanting to escape into a world of substance-induced euphoria.

I've been doing Opinium online surveys for years because you get paid for doing so & it's quick and easy to do in a bit of spare time.

But now I'm not sure I'm quite the sort of person they've been looking for. Half tempted to only tick the first three and see what happens.

@chris I was quite surprised to learn from your toot just now that Canada does have a jus soli rule, as the UK and almost all other Commonwealth countries don't.

Inspired by @lproven's recent writeup on The Register, I'm relaxing this Sunday by playing around with putting Haiku OS onto a very old Samsung netbook.

So far it's working really well, I have the internet up & running and it can cope (slowly) with Mastodon even on the built in browser, which is impressive.

@ArcanePigeon The extension #substitoot is absolutely essential if you use Mastodon with Firefox, it basically brings in all the replies to a toot that your server hasn't seen (maybe slightly less of an issue for someone on dot social but for those of us on smaller Mastodon servers it's a game changer). https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/substitoot/
