Yes! Not meaning that everyone needs a college education, but that every child should have a solid & well-rounded foundation of reading, writing, math, science, American & world history, social studies, civics, culture (art, music, literature, performing arts...) and hopefully at least a year or 2 of a foreign language. (and some PE or exercise/wiggle time, with shop, home ec - now called FCS or family & consumer science, also available. IMO

It's not terribly different from a cheer squad or football team where everyone was on the same page, same team, had the same choreography or playbook, until some lunkhead decides to suggest the team captain or cheer captain want to sabotage their plan... it makes no logical sense- it's just stupid hormones, low blood sugar, or someone looked at someone in the wrong way, & the BS begins, for no actual reason. -

The thing is (to my way of thinking), in order to be "free" but safe & secure, there needs to be an ordered, reliable, focused establishment. Then we can feel free to be free thinkers, dissenters, artists, inventors, explorers... so I appreciate the grounded, realistic people as much as the more daring ones, because I know they're telling me facts & sensible things. I can only fly if I know where the ground is. -

FFS!! It's very apparent that most of these people really have limited knowledge & understanding of who Hitler was, & what he & his henchmen aimed to do. They probably think Mussolini was a great guy, too. -

He sought out the depraved, because that is who he is. He sought out and flattered the base & uninformed because he needs & craves adulation & followers. I don't believe it is intelligence. He was raised to be a greedy, self-centered person who denigrates all who he feels are beneath his status. He would never socialize with "his" people. Aaarrghh!!! -

Isn't that mind-boggling?! Our news/information media have almost all drifted over to the tabloid and circus circuit. -

Well, I'm protected from that ugly information in a couple of ways. Secular Jews tend to be Democrats. New Yorkers are mostly Democrats. Californians are mostly Democrats. College educated women tend more towards Democratic.
I have a few more layers of avoidance, in case I need them... -

Yeah, and it still didn't help. We got Ray-gun anyway. -

And I'm clinging to the optimism part. If I read too much, or watch TV too much, I become terrified (or nauseous), so I'm trying to limit exposure. Hell, even Rachel looked haggard on Monday night. -

I wonder how many Stepford wives and zombies would have voted differently, had they heard his pronouncement first. But I'm still not letting go of my furtive optimism. -

Probably after a bunch of them already voted. -
If you tell the story of the burnt ballot boxes in Portland and Vancouver this week (an important story that warrants attention), also tell how good fire-suppressant design saved all but three ballots in the Portland box, and the efforts of the electio...@jdp23 @nikatjef @ianrosewrites
Not everyone has a printer anyway - I think if someone messed up their ballot, it might be reassuring to go to the local office, or town clerk, or whoever has help available... then fill it out & let the person confirm you've done it correctly (ask the right questions to guide you). Some people get really nervous!! -

Not just WA. If you messed up your mail-in ballot, or forgot to sign or date it, or put it in the inner envelope, etc., call your election board. They may be able to help.
