This is because a new follower with zero (or very low) followers themselves is a red flag that this account might be a bot (which is bad) or might be a new person that needs attention (which is good). Either way, I want to know at a glance.

And, yes, I would absolutely hate grouping follower notifications even though I get a LOT of them.
