@joannaholman I love pretty stuff, so I've had old coffee jars to store beans and grains for a while (a decade?), and it does help me see what I have easily.
But I think the choice is about sacrificing time for order - it takes a lot of maintenance.

If anyone wanted to really do an anthropological deep dive on white/anglo cis het womanhood, I feel like this is an interesting jumping off point.
Edited to add "het". I don't have evidence that the queers are doing this.
That said, *I'm* looking it up because I love organised spaces. But I am a white, anglo, cus, het-adjacent woman.
I procrastinated this morning by looking up food cupboard organisation, trying the see if there were interesting differences around the world.
Turns out every photo of the inside of a cupboard is from wealthy, English language countries. And they're so hilariously staged.
Like, where do you live that you store carrots and cauliflower in the cupboard at room temperature? Or have twelve unopened bottles of hot sauce (believable) on a rotating shelf (why? They're all the same and unopened).
Also there are only two types of organised Mum (I won't say woman, because it's only Mums/Moms): you can decant everything into beige containers and never buy packeted food, or you can have an entire pantry for chips and canned drinks. There is no in between.
I've been sending this link to the men in my life, because while they're not as likely to notice it without their attention being called, I know they are concerned about abortion access. And I know there are men on here who probably haven't seen it either.
Orange hospital restricts access to abortion for no good reason. NSW only has two hospitals which offer abortion care.
They're trying to do this in the dark and quiet, let's not let them.
Leaked documents show staff at the public hospital in Orange can no longer provide abortion services for patients who present without medical complications, further restricting regional women's access to time-critical reproductive health care.

Question for the higher-profile women here.
What do you do when you get threatening emails?
A friend of a friend at a big institution has gotten a few nasty, but unoriginal, threats.
@shlee Oooh, how did you manage that?
Back in my twitter days, it always guessed my gender as male after a month or two of me resetting the assumptions. As long as I mentioned anything code-adjacent, I was obviously a dude.
Do you love arts spaces, the old Brunswick vibe, and accessibility?
Help save Irene Arts Space!
It's a self organised, not for profit arts space, and needs help.
Irene Warehouse was established in 2003, at a former lingerie factory in Brunswick, with the aim of providing affordable workspaces to a diverse community of artists, activists, musicians and performers.
Chuffed (chuffed.org)
They need to bring their space up to date with accessibility and safety standards, the costs of which the tenants (Irene Arts) need to share with the building owner. This upgrade will be good for everyone, and if they can't do it quickly, they'll be shut down by council.
My own thoughts: Obviously it would be better if such costs were covered by landlords, but that won't happen, so we need to treat it as a community cost for community benefit.
