Arggh. Worried about my sister. She has been fighting one infection after another for months. She got some culture results today and was instructed to go to the ER to get IV antibiotics. I hope they do better by her this time than the last time at the ER, when she was given an oral antibiotic that is not recommended for the kind of infection she has. And now her husband (who is still sick himself) is planning to go through with a planned international trip on Sat.
@inthehands Not good. I'm glad to learn of the MN wastewater tracking site you posted.
2. Hearing news reports of enormous early-voting turnout motivates other people to vote.
3. The higher the proportion of votes are early votes, the less chance MAGA efforts to subvert the vote have of succeeding. For example, if 70% of voters have already voted early or by mail, election-day intimidation efforts will have much-reduced effect. (3/3)
1. Every day while voting is open, the campaigns get lists of who has voted. If you're on the first-day list, they never have to spend time and resources calling you. The more people vote early, the more the campaigns can work down their lists to less likely voters and turn them out -- so more Dems vote! (Also -- my point not Simon's -- you don't have to deal with a zillion political phone calls to get you out to vote. Yay!) (2/3)
VOTE EARLY
Simon Rosenberg says that something you can do to help Harris/Walz and Dem candidates up and down the ticket is to vote as early as is possible for you. Depending on your state, this might be in-person early voting or vote by mail. Why? a thread (1/3)
@TheBrieze @WrenArcher A reason to think that Harris will change policy on Israel/Gaza after she is president is that currently she is vice president -- a part of the Biden administration. In that role, she really can't speak out against the current administration's policies. Once she herself is president, that constraint no longer holds.
