@Bibliothecaris Things I like about Mastodon:
1. I can take responsibility for my profile and connections, no billionaire can cut me off.
2. People don't need an account to look at the things I post. So I can send someone a link and they can look at it. It's become surprisingly rare for social platforms. Also Mastodon posts can be cited.
3. People can converge around interests using hashtags, lists, and (in the future) groups.

Hi, #scholars, tell us, why are you on #Mastodon? -
really wish there was a half decent place (as in not letterboxd, trakt, or simkl) to track tv shows and movies. as always@SweetAmelia Since the last time we talked about it, a predominantly English instance of NeoDB has popped up if you feel like giving that a try: https://eggplant.place

In crises, people naturally self-organize by helping in their communities, volunteering, or working with professionals.@news Excellent news, congratulations Steffen!

I wanna give back to the Mastodon community, so let's do an Art Share!@NullTheFool You're also an absolute pixel art boosting legend who's worth following to discover new artists as well as for your own art. 🤩

Made some cheesy dance music ️ https://on.soundcloud.com/U5TXM7BAyhcX7mKZA@hannesstruss That was enjoyable, thanks for sharing!

I finished another #webdev side project and built the QR code generator of my dreams: :fietkau_software: https://fietkau.software/qr@TexJoachim Thanks, do feel free to spread the word! On account of how this is built, additional users do not increase the cost for me.

I finished another #webdev side project and built the QR code generator of my dreams: :fietkau_software: https://fietkau.software/qr@Computeum Cute idea. It would be technically possible, but I don't know if it's aesthetically different enough to introduce a choice just for that. Someone else asked for the ability to upload a custom dot graphic (like an emoji or whatever), maybe I'll do that at some point.

We almost reached the halfway point of the #FediJam, our month-long #GameJam for users of the #Fediverse. So we figured this might be a good moment to remind everybody that you can submit your game early – even if it's not yet finished.@ch0ccyra1n Maybe that'll go faster if the dialogue is all noises instead of English

Unveiling the core gameplay loop of my #FediJam entry.Unveiling the core gameplay loop of my #FediJam entry. Think you can do better than me? You're probably right! Prove it next month!
Note: still placeholder graphics, have not even started on presentation except basic animation. I wanted to get the movement nailed down early since it's so core to the experience. This feels about right.
(Gonna be marking these as sensitive in case people want to avoid spoilers.)

Finally starting on my #FediJam project today.@bazylevnik0 No, it'll be impossible to fail. It's going to be a casual game where the challenge is picking up every collectible before the level moves you forward. I think it's going to be pretty easy to 100%.

Finally starting on my #FediJam project today.@bazylevnik0 There are still a lot of elements missing in this video. I have stage movement implemented now, and starting work on collectibles soon!

Finally starting on my #FediJam project today.Finally starting on my #FediJam project today. Because is it a real deadline if you don't start on the thing halfway through?
This is after an hour or two of getting warmed up again in #threejs. Hand-fudged physics, no graphics yet, but you can guess at the basic gameplay concept. I'm having fun so far!
If you missed this ongoing game jam up until now: https://itch.io/jam/fedi-jam and @fedi_jam

i think one of the things that bugs me about RSS feeds is that there's zero feedback.@eniko In practice yeah, I haven't had to do any comment blocking so far.
-
i think one of the things that bugs me about RSS feeds is that there's zero feedback.@eniko (The profile address there is supposed to start with "https://", it's just reformatted by Mastodon.)
Wait no, the post ID is actually in the date link! So you can hide a specific comment like this:
.mastodon-comment:has(.author .date[href="https://peoplemaking.games/@eniko/113136659568980775"]) {
display: none;
}(Same link situation here: this is supposed to be the full URL starting with "https://".)

i think one of the things that bugs me about RSS feeds is that there's zero feedback.@eniko The code doesn't currently surface the post ID of each comment, but if you want to hide all comments by a specific person, you can currently do that in pure CSS:
.mastodon-comment:has(.author .user[href="https://peoplemaking.games/@eniko"]) {
display: none;
}They'll still appear in the page source code, but maybe that's not so much of a bother. I guess slurs and illegal content and such would get removed by your server's moderation anyway.
