Defensive Security Podcast Episode 279Defensive Security Podcast Episode 279
In Episode 279 of the Defensive Security Podcast, Jerry Bell and Andrew Kalat discuss the latest cybersecurity news and issues. Stories include Transportation for London requiring in-person password resets after a security incident, Google's new 'air-gapped' backup service, the impact of a rogue 'Whois' server, and the ongoing ramifications of the Moveit breach. The episode also explores workforce challenges in cybersecurity, such as the gap between the number of professionals and the actual needs of organizations, and discusses the trend of just-in-time talent versus long-term training and development.

Damn, Mozilla.social is going away. Guess they need the hardware to run AI for their browsers@ben I believe it had a lot more than the current number - toward the end of 2023 they announced funding had been cut and people reassigned, and I think a lot of people migrated away after that. @madeindex @david_megginson @tinker

I don't generally like to plug things here, but I have to tell you that I've been incredibly impressed by Fastly's service and their people. If you're a developer looking for CDN services, or otherwise in the market for CDN services give Fastly a look since they have a free tier for developers now.
You can find info on their free tier here: http://fastly.com/pricing and the announcement is here: http://fastly.com/instant

JerryCoin is mined through good deeds and acts of service to others.
There are still some things left to figure out. But I’m sure those are just minor details.

My guilty pleasure now is watching political conspiracy theories (most recently about the presidential debate) unravelling on LinkedIn. Gonna be a long nightFinal update on last night: my dad is now home - apparently nothing serious.
-
Gonna be a long nightBack home. Dad is still at the hospital awaiting more tests. Mom is with him. In a bright spot, my youngest son spent the night with me and I got to talk to him a lot more than normal. He’s an awesome person and I can’t believe I’m his dad. (First son realized something was up by tracking my phone to my mom’s house at 1:30am - and offered to help. He is awesome too.)
-
Gonna be a long nightThanks for all the well wishes. My dad was transported by ambulance to the hospital for heart issues and my mom is unfortunately no longer able to drive so I picked her up and we’re here with him. He’s ok.
