@julian Hi, yes for sure. "Source" or "Location" are pretty common data points that add more granularity in organization/sorting/searching. An example of a non text field would be something like "beginning date" and "end date" that would need to be date or number. I'm admittedly new to nodebb, but I it would seem copy/pasting whatever was done to the users codebase and replacing the variables names would be perfect for both categories and topics.

NodeBB 3.12.0Hey, the custom user field is a great feature, well done. Are there plans to add this functionality to categories? I tried to find a previous discussion on this but was unsuccessful, so I apologize if this is not the right place. The only recent comments I could find were about how adding custom fields should be "easier" because there is less concern for leaking data. Custom fields for categories is a necessity for my project and I dont want to reinvent the wheel. If there are no plans for this, I'd appreciate any guidance on the possiblilty of reusing the custom user field code and applying it to categories, or what the current best approach is for this. Thank you very much!
