After my confusion about how to find people on mastodon @agnes recommended I introduce myselfAfter my confusion about how to find people on mastodon @agnes recommended I introduce myself
Hi, I’m Sam Hart, a long-time P2P tinkerer. I was active in the early Scuttlebutt, Dat, and IPFS communities and helped the Internet Archive start their Dweb series. Now I work in crypto as a product strategist at skip.build and timewave.computer.
I also write about decentralized technology and society with my friends at Other Internet. Here’s a piece about digital public goods some here might find interesting. https://otherinter.net/research/positive-sum-worlds/
I also grew up in an artists household and have been involved in the arts my whole life. I used to do a bunch of editorial collaborations with artists and curation of conceptual and sound art, though slightly less these days (trying to make more time for it).
Anyway, that’s a bit about me. Glad to be here and see a bunch of friendly faces.

apparently it’s been 5 years since I logged into Mastadon lol. currently doing a little tour of decentralized social networks to see how all of them are progressing.so this is a rough estimate of average daily active accounts last month:
- Nostr: 28K - https://stats.nostr.band
- Farcaster: 50K - https://dune.com/pixelhack/farcaster
- Bluesky: 280K - https://bskycharts.edavis.dev/edavis.dev/bskycharts.edavis.dev/and it looks like growth for all 3 is more or less flat last few months.
mastodon I couldn’t find daily actives, but it lists 844K monthly active users. I’d expect DAU to be like 2/3 of that maybe? https://joinmastodon.org/servers
