Additionally, I recommend you move to a instance with a much *smaller* user base. You will find that your fediverse experience improves dramatically when you do.

I will limit/silence mastodon.social in 24 hours due to the torrential volume of spam accounts and posts originating from mastodon.social.
I am tired of dealing with mastodon.social's general incompetence. The limit/silence will last as long as I deem necessary.

Hetzner hosts the majority of fediverse instances as per @benjojo's stats:
51%.
mastodon.social is hosted by Hetzner. Now there is certainly plenty of so-called pornographic material on mastodon.social.
I've been informed that this is a Germany thing and all hosting providers in Germany are like this.
So if you are hosting your fediverse instance on a German hosting provider, consider it a hostile environment.

"On 8 October 2024 I received an email from Hetzner. This was a forwarded abuse report. As is standard practice in the web hosting business Hetzner forwarded this to me so I could take action on it.
This was no ordinary abuse report. This was targeted harassment from a threat actor that has been harassing me and my friends for a long time. Now they have started targeting Ten Forward itself in an attempt to cause disruption in the day to day operations of Ten Forward."
