Finally decided to test using micro.blog to crosspost to multiple sites at the same time. Works pretty well. I need to test it on mobile as well before I can commit fully. In an ideal world, I’d do what @adactio does with Bridgy. https://adactio.com/journal/19645 It’s on the perpetual to do list.

Listening to Paul Calvano talk about web performance mistakes at the #perfnow conference. Love how Etsy makes it ok for people to make mistakes and learn from them.

Assuming AGI ever becomes a reality, I wonder if we’ll looo back in this idea that all we need to get there is more training data the same way we look back on people trying to fly by building wings that flap harder.

Every time I visit Europe I find myself wishing American cities were more like European ones.

Or at minimum, that our neighborhood had sidewalks. I’d take sidewalks as a start.

@yatil Thanks. I'll give that a try. I’ll just want to find a section of a video without having to watch the whole thing so a lot of these services anticipate an ongoing need I don't have.

I still have trouble envisioning how AI will take over the world when most of my experiences with AI continue to be disappointing.

1. I don't know what I'm going to talk about.
2. Ok, I've got an idea, but I don't think there is enough here to fill 50 minutes.
3. Weeks of stress.
4. Crap. I have 189 slides. What am I going to cut?

So I followed up with the client to get the meeting scheduled. It's taken a few days to find some time that works on everyone's calendar, but we finally found a time:

A couple weeks ago, I completely made up a meeting with a former client.

The CMS they are using released a major update and we wanted to discuss what it meant for them.

I was convinced we were meeting on Wednesday. I told my co-workers and planned around it.

Midday Wednesday, I panicked. I missed the meeting. Why didn't my calendar remind me?

There was nothing on my calendar. I searched through email. We never set a time and date to meet.

I invented the meeting out of whole cloth.

Ah yeah, I voted and my ballot has been counted!
