@inthehands I think "Trump folded" is one aspect of what happened, but I also think that a core pattern in his M.O. is: declare a crisis, cancel most of the crisis, claim credit for averting the crisis, rake in the concessions. That's a big part of how he degrades reality; each canceled crisis tricks us into accepting some level of damage that never gets undone.

I'm curious, if you had to roughly estimate your donations to mutual aid requests over the past year, how much would this add up to?@stefan I mostly give to organizations, but when I want to give cash to someone who needs it, all I have to do is reach in my pocket for the next person who says, "excuse me ma'am, do you..." as I'm walking into the grocery store. I don't think people should have to lay out all the details of their virtues and misfortunes on the internet. When I give cash to a random stranger, it's because they asked for it, not because they bared their soul to convince me that they are the Most Deserving.

I'm curious, if you had to roughly estimate your donations to mutual aid requests over the past year, how much would this add up to?@stefan I find it a little hard to get my head around online mutual aid requests because there are so many asks in my real life. People with signs at every major intersection in my city. My kids' schools requesting kleenex, menstrual supplies, or donations for the family whose house burned down. The neighborhood's biweekly food distribution.
