I know I'm privileged to live among people who respect my opinion, but that is partly my doing. Of course I'm also partly lucky, in my family and upbringing.
I think there's a difference between going out with someone who votes differently than you, and going out with someone who votes for policies and laws that actively are going to harm you.

If I was in the US, and my husband/bf voted Trump, I would be out of there. They obviously would not be prioritising my well-being. We would not be a team, he would not have my back. I would not feel safe with them any more.
