@octothorpe And ..
New Metric song - Sick Muse - just dropped:
@octothorpe I'm sure that was an exciting time to be there.
@octothorpe I remember those times well...that's when I first visited.
Recognizing that it's a banal, obvious thought, but regardless of how folks who live in Japan feel about the state of infrastructure, it's absolutely astounding to see a system so large, and so diverse, function so well in comparison to similar systems in the US.
And not having visited for so long, it once again is so obvious why Tokyo and its environs were such influences on Gibson, Scott, et al when envisioning the metropolitan life of "the future”.
Finally, after many years, made it to Benfiddich in Tokyo. It' s a tiny, 17-seat bar, with a lovely built-out. Great cocktails featuring flavors from Kayama-san's garden.
Given the 4-photo limit here (yes, I know there's a Fedi equivalent, but I haven't set that up), I dropped a quick post on Instagram:

COOPER PUPDATE!
OK, so there’s no photo with this, but I’ll do another post with one later.
Today, Cooper joined us at a friend’s house for dinner, his first non-medical outing since his surgery almost two weeks ago.
He did great. He’s overly enthusiastic (which is the obvious danger), but takes direction, and calmed down and was a great, relaxed guest.
Stitches out on the 7th…
COOPER PUPDATE!
Day three: bearing weight on the leg. Got him to come upstairs yesterday, but today he's in the entranceway again (which is fine).
Doing small, supported walks, and doing well overall.
@woolie @octothorpe @marioguzman (I think there's an "album shuffle" plug-in using their API, too.
COOPER PUPDATE!
Well, the big guy is home. Couldn't convince him to go up the stairs to the main level (supported in his help-him-up-harness, of course), so he's in the entranceway.
Brought his bed down, and he's chilling. Literally, when I'm rubbing his leg with ice (warm compresses later). He's still under the nerve blocks, which taper over 72 hours; his pain is well controlled by that and his other meds.
Two weeks of strict restriction starts today.
Cooper is being prepped for the surgery as I type… here we go. #dogsofmastodon
Well, tomorrow Cooper goes in for his ACL repair (TPLO). His weight is down to 116, he’s put on a bunch of muscle, and hopefully we’ve set him up for a successful procedure.
This one is (emotionally) harder than the TPLOs we had to do with previous pups; in those cases they started great, injured themselves, and went downhill…whereas with Cooper he started injured and has improved significantly because of the work we’ve put in.
But it’s the right thing to do. Wish him luck!
