My nation is near extinct from russian genocidal efforts, we've barely been independent after 1200 for 50 years. There was more of us than Finnish but now, <1 million of us. Never invaded anyone, helped our neighbours to gain independence.
Every situation is different and if you don't want to learn the reasons, please don't pile onto someone.
