if only we already knew the solution to every problem and could add them to our training data
then we could solve every problem

like people are impressed by shit models because they think that their shit models are capable of becoming good models, if only they could be better
like, yeah, if only they could be the thing they're not, they could be better
it feels like the AI bubble uses the same logic as "temporarily embarrassed millionaire" bullshit
like oh, it's fine, we just need to improve the model. some day we'll hit it big!!
like trans folks, there are way more plural folks around than you realise
like, actually, but also as a joke since we're kinda by definition more folks than you realise
I've done this before and never had any luck, but I might as well try again.
I've been "properly" unemployed for almost two years now. I managed to snag a contract position a year ago, but it only lasted two months, so, that hasn't really tided me over much. Honestly, I don't know if I have the money to last much longer than two more months, and I'm currently supporting myself and two other people financially.
I'm a software engineer who has been routinely denied career mobility despite often outperforming senior and sometimes staff-level engineers. My latest position was actually labelled as a senior-level position, so, I at least have that going for me, but a lot of people tend to pass me by because I don't match their image of an engineer who's been in the industry for a long time.
I can work on genuinely just about anything software, including systems administration, SRE work, backend work, frontend work, embedded work, whatever. I try not to advertise myself as a frontend engineer because I hate modern frontend frameworks and have barely used them, but, I probably am underselling my own skills.
Some of my most notable public software work has been working on the Rust language and writing templates and modules (Lua) for game wikis. My personal projects are all over the place and I've been trying to document them all to have a better portfolio to show people, but that takes a long time, and I don't have much time left before I run out of money.
I would love to work on something open-source or for a non-profit, but as I said, I really need a job right now and will accept just about anything.
I have my CV online here and you're more than welcome to DM me to ask specific questions.
@Foxboron when someone sends you a DM with an executable file and says "try this"
(I don't know)
