@atax1a what a difference it would make if people made a point of talking about how they've done harm, what the problems were with the thought patterns that lead them there, and reached out to people in those patterns currently to help them break the cycle too

once more and yet again, if the main thrust of your "apology" is a nonspecific "i'm better now and but i don't want anything from you other than for you to know i'm sorry" you have not meaningfully apologized, and we have nothing to go on for rebuildin... -
you know, one thing that has always bothered me regarding male violence is the demonization of testosterone.@puppygirlhornypost2 @ch0ccyra1n part of what kept me in the closet from myself for so long was the really narrow band of self-expression I felt I was allowed. Don't act feminine, don't cry, make sure you're "getting" women.
Today I still hold a lot of anger, but it's really just an expression of the grief and sadness I'm still trying to unblock. Even full of E, even knowing I'm not a man, the shame of crying is still deeply-seated.

you know, one thing that has always bothered me regarding male violence is the demonization of testosterone.@puppygirlhornypost2 @ch0ccyra1n I'm a big believer in nurture over nature and I think the nurture here is the way boys are taught implicitly and explicitly that there's a narrow band of acceptable behaviours they can show and emotions they can have, and those boys become men who have internalised the idea that there are 3 acceptable emotions: happy, angry, and horny.

i don't want to step on a friend's thread about estrogen and how people talk about it working miracles.@forestine we mostly want different things out of puberty, but there are two things we all want: to feel at home in our bodies, and to have the right to change them so we can.

i don't want to step on a friend's thread about estrogen and how people talk about it working miracles.@forestine I hope instead they get to hear from all the folks who are like "I'm hairy, hell yeah!", "my voice is deeper—awesome!"
I've seen folks affirmed by things like balding, and that hair that grows in inconvenient places. And in general it's nice to see people getting joy out of something that wasn't for me.
