    • Leaderboard on home page?

I'm fairly new to NodeBB so forgive me for any gaps in basic knowledge.

I have the leaderboard plugin but want to display it underneath the category list on my homepage, rather than a whole different route. Sounds like I need to make it into a widget and then add that widget to a region of the page.

I had a bash at converting the plugin to a widget based on the published instructions for writing a widget, and by comparing with other widgets, but currently my widget doesn't even appear in the available widgets list.

Can anyone give me an idea of how to achieve what I'm trying to do?

    • Category notifications / watching categories etc

Struggling to make sense of some aspects of the notification system in NodeBB.

As I understand it, "watching" means you see posts in the "Unread" section and also receive notifications (in the bell in the top right and via email if configured).

"Not watching" means no notifications but the post appears in "Unread".

"Ignoring" means no notification and nothing in "Unread".

However, at category level we have the ability to set "Watching", but actually it's the equivalent of "Not watching", as far as I can tell.

There's a plugin, nodebb-plugin-category-notifications, which adds a "Subscribe/Unsubscribe" button to categories and enables full notifications for all topics in the category, but unfortunately this seems to fight with the inbuilt notification system, so if people ignore a particular topic but are subscribed to the category, they still get notifications!

Basically all I want is to be able to click at category level to truly "watch" every topic in that category (unread and notifications) but be able to ignore individual topics if I want to. There doesn't seem to be a clean way of doing this.

@baris Thanks, I'll give this a try but am using Redis. Any idea what the command should be for that?

Additionally, pagination doesn't seem to work at all any more, i.e. I cannot switch from infinite scroll to pagination.

The option activates but the scrolling behaviour hasn't actually changed.

    • Post count wrong causing issues with navigation and notifications

      NodeBB 1.9.2.

Basically a couple of related issues which have started happening all of a sudden:

      1. Post count is incorrect. Example (this thread actually has about 598 posts):

      f490e857-da97-4185-b583-1b546b683106-image.png

      1. (Following on from previous issue) Clicking the "jump to last post" navigation button goes to post 400, not post 598

      2. Jumping / scrolling to the bottom of the thread causes additional posts to finally start loading beyond post 400, via infinite scroll. They load pretty quickly and eventually you can reach the end of the thread, but this obviously isn't expected behaviour

      3. The same thing happens when notifications are clicked, i.e. if someone posts a new comment in this thread, I get a notification but clicking it takes me to post 400, not their actual recent post:

      0d258e12-6672-4610-b191-3e4a23ad4fc3-image.png

It's as if some cache or index is not being updated.

Tried rebuilding/restarting with no success. No errors in the logs. Checked "Cache" under Advanced and "Group Cache" was full at one point (Length of 40000). I don't know what this means because there seems to be zero documentation about this.

    • Notify all users by default when admin posts

Is there a way to make users automatically follow all admin users when they join a nodebb forum? Or anything similar that will result in everyone getting a notification when an admin makes a post?

      For reference I'm on v1.9.2.

    • RE: [nodebb-plugin-reactions] Reactions plugin for NodeBB

Doesn't seem to work on nodebb 1.9.2 on the Material theme. "Add Reaction" button is there but empty list of possible reactions displayed when clicked.

      I'm using nodebb-plugin-emoji v2.2.4.

      Love this theme!

On the homepage with the category cards, is there a way to show the image of the last poster in the card footer, rather than the image of the OP?
