@emsquared that’s the big problem eh? We are so exposed to events we have no ability to influence, not natural for all of human history until the last 100 years or so and it’s gotten faster and more detailed in that time too.

I feel my relationship with the news these days is a bit like spotting a few sheep in a far away field from the carriage of a train. -
I feel my relationship with the news these days is a bit like spotting a few sheep in a far away field from the carriage of a train.@emsquared that sounds like the healthiest approach tbh. Self care.

Anyone remember blipverts from the original Max Headroom drama?@emsquared I can’t be doing with that weird no gaps in rapidly speaking shit that people do in videos without taking any breath because it’s all been unnaturally edited together into one massively long sentence. Phew.

Still have to catch myself from saying "I just hoovered the lounge" rather than vacuumed.@emsquared any time I see X dot com it just makes me think of those turn of the century UFO games.

Still have to catch myself from saying "I just hoovered the lounge" rather than vacuumed.@emsquared I suppose Googled is the one for the current age. What are folks supposed to say now instead of ‘tweet’ and ‘tweeted’?
I Xed an X about that. lol -
If anyone remembers the singing postman and "'ave you got a light boy?" then I feel like repurposing it to say "Have you got *any* light boy?" It's like living in eternal twilight here of late. -
Our 1960s and 1970s music polls@emsquared @HannahHowe same but shifted a little later. Not sure what age folks get to be really aware of popular music but I would say for me it was about 8 or 9, by which time the 70s were coming to and end for me.

This was interesting.@emsquared last I heard it said, in the US TV watching is really a habit only of over 40s.

This was interesting.@emsquared is it as skewed to older folks as the US?

I'm no fan of mid 80s Bowie (I have a pristine, played only once vinyl of his Tonight album) but right now I have that 1985 non album hit made with an American jazz guitar composer playing in my head for some reason.@emsquared I was never a huge Bowie or Prince fan. Appreciated the best of it all but didn’t buy it or listen to it a lot. Much of it is of course Mount Rushmore level music and pop culture landscape stuff.
