NodeBB v4.0.0-alpha (aka ActivityPub alpha release) -
Handling "410 Gone" when retrieving an actor@julian in my opinion, even if it's interesting conversations or useful information, it's not "yours" to keep.βοΈ
I'd say if it was requested to be deleted, the honorable thing would be to honor that request.
-
Hidden Links now highlighted@julian hopefully it's the latter cause I don't see a thing. Mastodon is probably just removing it, I hope.
-
What is your relationship with your instance owner?@evan sometimes, I am a stranger to myself.
-
Regarding `replies` and `inReplyTo` traversal@julian nice! I love reading your progress posts. Always excited for new AP implementations and seeing how each dev handles things once it's done.
I'm obviously not a dev myself, but I really admire your work.
-
Fedi be like...@smallcircles side note: If someone randomly sent me a bong in the spirit of "social networking". I will be forever grateful for their peace offering. :kek:

Changing the domain of an existing instance@julian @simplycorbett haha. Hell yeah dude. We're all putting forth ideas!
I'd like to think I've even put forth my thoughts in a way that is influential to those that are actively developing it.
I am just speaking towards your, obviously, very great work in the Threadiverse side of things.
Any ideas and work put towards achieving a better and more complete AP, is the goal!

Weβre starting to roll out the new threads.net on desktop globally, so you can customize and personalize what you see. We have a lot of great ideas to make this the best website to share ideas, so stay tuned for more and let us know if you have any sug... -
Fediverse contains multitudes.@stefan the issue comes when people post with "public" setting and expect privacy.
If they're on Mastodon, they immediately have no privacy because their profile has an RSS feed.
Here's yours in an RSS reader.

I swear, if Fedi becomes closed in any way, shape, or form due to the sheer amount of people thinking that this is Signal, I'll be deleting my instance so fast, you won't even know where I went.I swear, if Fedi becomes closed in any way, shape, or form due to the sheer amount of people thinking that this is Signal, I'll be deleting my instance so fast, you won't even know where I went.
I'm so tired of unknowledgeable people trying to change the platform. The really bad thing is that it's seemingly starting to work and we're going against what the platform was made to be in the first place...
PLEASE, if you want privacy, use @signalapp !!! That place is KNOWN for privacy! Don't make open platforms become closed because you were uninformed when you joined the open platform!
If I have to start screaming to the void like I used to have to do on other platforms, this place will be dead to me.

#SocialMedia #SocialNetworks #ActivityPub #Fediverse #Mastodon #ATProtocol #Threads #Bluesky: "Two major ecosystems have emerged in the wake, both encouraging the variety and experimentation of the earlier web.@remixtures well....the difference is that BlueSky isn't decentralized natively. You have to use the 3rd party Bridgy Fed to connect it to the Fediverse before stuff can "be shared across websites". On BlueSky, there's only BlueSky if you're not connected through BridgyFed.βοΈ

I love when Fediverse scrapers get Fediblocked MULTIPLE times then start making new instances under obscure domain names to hide their data stealing...π€¬I love when Fediverse scrapers get Fediblocked MULTIPLE times then start making new instances under obscure domain names to hide their data stealing...π€¬
Awakari created a new instance on Indy.rest on June 24. 4 days after I called for Fediblock on their other attempt at ban evasion (awakari.app)
Indy.rest seems to be down at the moment. However, given their track record, this is a required block if you value your data not being sold.

Question for #ActivityPub users. I installed it on my WordPress site and expected to see the two posts I've published since then here at @[email protected]@OldAintDead Fediverse works strictly by follow relationships. You need to be following the account and then the future posts will be pulled to your instance. OR you could copy/paste the link to the post into your instance's search bar, which should also pull the post. Hope this helps, friend.

Is there a command similar to Mastodon's "tootctl self destruct" for Pixelfed? Is there a command similar to Mastodon's "tootctl self destruct" for Pixelfed?
Would like to "cleanly" delete the instance, if possible.

More misinformation with no way to shut it down!More misinformation with no way to shut it down! Hurray!

Replies from the Fediverse can now be read on Threads!!@samsethi @chrismessina unfortunately, they're not true replies.
1. It has to be a reply to a post already existing on Threads.
2. It can only mention 1 user. Mentioning more than one causes the post to not show on Threads.
3. Replies can only be seen by the user that was mentioned.
As you can see, it's pretty underwhelming and leaves everything to be desired.
The most concerning thing is that they didn't disclose these limitations when they announced replies...βοΈ

Is there a method of integrating #RSS into #activitypub ??? That would be sick if it was possible@AuntyRed https://rss-parrot.net/

Finally able to take the time to listen to @mike's latest podcast episode regarding moderation. Finally able to take the time to listen to @mike's latest podcast episode regarding moderation.
This is a very important and critical topic that needs to be dealt with and I really appreciate Mike's opinions and ideas for ways forward with this.
If the Fediverse is important to you, moderation should also be important.
If so, I urge you to give it a listen. This is very important for the future of Fedi and I admire Mike for taking the time to discuss it.

Finally able to take the time to listen to @mike's latest podcast episode regarding moderation.I do hope whatever solutions come up can find a good balance to help us all do better to make this place better for everyone.
Even for small fries like myself. We can all do better.

If you conflate Fediverse software, you're making it confusing for people that are unknowledgeable on the subject. If you conflate Fediverse software, you're making it confusing for people that are unknowledgeable on the subject.
Mastodon β Pleroma β Akkoma β Misskey β Sharkey β GoToSocial.
Every Fedi software is developed by different people for the most part. Each dev has different values and ideologies which might show with the features of their software.
Everyone is different and so is the software they create.
