@linux_mclinuxface @MisterMaker Yep sorry, I saw after writing that the SV08 has a license. Yes mechanical drawings are useful/mandatory because they contain info you don't always have on CAD like tolerances, surface finish or materials. A lot of things like that are missing in MK2 and MK3 and maybe even on MK1...

I can't remember all the attacks I've received from Prusa themselves and its community when I've raised my voice about their misleading use of open source. -
I can't remember all the attacks I've received from Prusa themselves and its community when I've raised my voice about their misleading use of open source.@linux_mclinuxface @MisterMaker Difficult to qualify it better but I do recognize the effort. They don't share the native CAD (only STL/STEP) and the files don't have a license. It's hard to do anything with that. However, yeah it would make it easier to clone and that's not happening.

Today is another small victory as Hackaday now adds its voice to many others.

Oh one more close source CoreXY 3D printer...@linux_mclinuxface I have fought for this for so many years, and been trashed by Prusa online so many times, that it is a relief to see people finally understand the poop Prusa has made to open source hardware.

Oh one more close source CoreXY 3D printer...@linux_mclinuxface Oh it really is close source. No source are available for MK4 and MK4S (STL and STEP are not sources). If you read MK4S and CoreOne description you will see that they only mention open source software. All new software they launched recently are close source. We are still waiting the MK3S source files promised by Prusa when we asked them 4 years ago (github issue still open). Jo has said himself on X that open source is dead. It's done, no more open source product from Prusa.

Oh one more close source CoreXY 3D printer...@andy_warb Because Prusa has not made anything open source since the Mini. Also no mention that the printer is open source, same for MK4S. They play on words but that's it. The software and slicer are open because they are based on open source projects and they were already open source before the MK4.

I don't understand why the consumer level stick to CoteXY, there are better motion systems that move the bed on the Z axis. For example, the Markforged motion has stationary motors and shorter belts.
