@MJ I also think that the global nodebb chat should be improved
that you see on the main page
that you can create rooms in that global chat, for example "general" room "love" room

the shoutbox plugins is very basic and is very outdated
they abandoned that project

a nodebb is missing a good global chat
in the forum part it is very good but in the chat part it needs more work

I use the twitter plugin and they look good on the forum
but not in the chat

it still looks like iframely puts it

I suggest that the chat channels or groups are on the left and the online users are on the right, or vice versa, as you prefer.
In telegram groups and users go to the left entreverados and it looks ugly, but in discord you see groups on the left and users on the right. I show you an image

I would like the "emojis" button to be in the chat as it is in the forum topics.

A problem with the old chat is to scroll and read old messages. When I'm scrolling and a new message arrives, it takes me to the scroll until the last message and I have to start over to read the message history.

I do not intend for nodebb chat to look like phpbb chat
because if it were that way it would not be in nodebb, it would be in phpbb

What I would like is for the chat to improve pointing to the nodebb style and be user friendly.

Is there any way to make this shoutbox look similar to the one in the image?
in this chat all users who are watching the shoutbox will be connected
you can send them private, you can create more rooms
you will see the same hierarchies that exist in the forum
you can see the history of the conversations in a file that you can personality for days you want to save the history
