@raphael @thisismissem @mekkaokereke @nixCraft well but then you need to offer people something useful they actually want to pay money for

I asked around so-called influencers why they were not on #Mastodon . Here are the most common replies:@raphael @mekkaokereke @thisismissem @nixCraft i recommend reading up on the german medical system, ammies are sared of it because they think its "socialism". but: surprise surprise, not everyone needs to be charged for it to work. charge people by their income. -
I asked around so-called influencers why they were not on #Mastodon . Here are the most common replies:@mekkaokereke @nixCraft oh yes you can make money here, the issue is that its not the way how asocial media monetizes, here, the users decide to spend money, users here dont get ad revenue. -
@april If that's something you want, I would start from making messages unforwardable, and then add forwardability as an extension.@jenniferplusplus my idea was to have two different signatures in the base spec, but that might overcomplicate it -
@april If that's something you want, I would start from making messages unforwardable, and then add forwardability as an extension.@jenniferplusplus maybe add two types of signatures instead? one that includes a instance host and one that doesnt? -
@april Do you actually want messages to be confidential?@jenniferplusplus hmm yea, thats not behavior we'd want. but in this specific case wouldnt that be the implementation at fault here? also we have something similar in AP already where implementations can just decide to ignore blocks from other servers and then harass the user even more... had that with some nzs pleroma instances... anyways i might be on and off a bit because we are currently rebuilding our hackspace haha :neocat_sweat: answers might be delayed -
Hi @hrefna I just a FYI on https://versia.pub a federation protocol "heavily inspired by ActivityPub" which I just bumped into via @erlend .. didn't have a deep look yet, but thought it might be interesting given your own musings re:FeatherPub.@jenniferplusplus @jessew @hrefna @smallcircles @erlend @anders we are still planning on e2ee, but as a extension. This isnt about confidentially here, the current protocol spec should allow for repeats from other instances, but that should be able to be limited using extensions. We currently dont have the capacity for that as a three person team with many other things on our ToDo, but we are always happy to accept PRs
