@wdlindsy Nate Silver is probably factoring in the number of votes that the #GroupiesOfPutin party intends to "suppress".

In a thread yesterday, I noted that after WWII, many Americans asked how it was possible that large numbers of Germans could hear Hitler's dangerous, crazy ranting targeting minority communities and lusting after blood and still support him. -
"For the past week [Trump] has been telling a story about a residential building in Colorado taken over by a gang from Venezuela. -

"You might think the Democrats’ surge occurred in spite of their posture toward legacy media.@Burnt_Veggies @lyda @mastodonmigration @wdlindsy
The FT doesn't mince words:
Martin Wolf:
...The question arises: are the oligarchs who are trying to make Trump president and JD Vance vice-president, the latter a man who has declared he would not have certified that election, about to learn what it means to have a tyrant as president? Yes, someone who attempts a coup against the electoral process — the very heart of democracy — is a would-be tyrant. So is someone who may fill his government with people personally loyal to him. Nobody then can truly be safe, except loyalists and sycophants....The plutocrats who support Trump may remain safer than Berezovsky. But can they really be as free as they want? Yes, a further erosion of democracy might protect them from interference by the elected politicians they detest. But the men they put in power, in their stead, have a tendency to turn themselves into absolute rulers. Nobody can then be truly safe.

"You might think the Democrats’ surge occurred in spite of their posture toward legacy media.@lyda @mastodonmigration @wdlindsy A couple of fine English papers that often cover our politics better than our own press:
The Financial Times. Best in class at showing how and why Trump is BAD for business.
Very good coverage of the Harris campaign. Almost daily stories about climate change. They are on Mastodon. https://sfba.social/@[email protected] High School students/teachers/staff can get the Financial Times for free https://ft.com/schoolsarefreeThe Guardian. Also a fine paper. Free to all. https://theguardian.com

Folks are surprised that Brittany Mahomes (wife of Black NFL QB Patrick Mahomes, mother of 2 Black kids) is a Trump supporter?@mekkaokereke White women have been running away from Trump in droves since the Dobbs decision. #project2025 has them running away even faster. Now we have a woman running for President.
All the polls show a gender gap of historic proportions.
There may be a lot of racist white women, but even they don't want to be breeding stock.
I don't think they will all go running back to Trump.
