@adders thanks for the post about this!@adders thanks for the post about this! Small feedback on your site while I’m here - I see a lot of Twitter logos for sharing etc, but nothing for sharing to Mastodon, and the only place I found a link to follow you / find you here (on the About page), it did not work / was a bad link. There are some good Fediverse sharing widgets now like https://werd.io/2024/share-openly and https://stefanbohacek.com/project/fediverse-sharing-button/

So this was a whole shit show that as of now has cost me 2 days of investigation, clean-up, mitigation, will likely cost me more time & also feels extremely crappy all in all. -
My #Mastodon bookmarks (and previously twitter) are like a black hole that sucks in everything but will never show it again.@felwert fantastic! One of my colleagues in DevRel at Twitter built something to categorise and search bookmarks there, too. I think the ability to build apps on top of the bookmark data is a winner - thanks for sharing this one (and I might just sneak it in to the next Trunk & Tidbits blog post, in the community section…)

The Mastodon team has had some questions about the new OpenGraph tag, some directly to me.@jenbanim yes, we are working on that - I totally agree with the points you make here, and we do want to reduce friction and provide users with control.

It was a pleasure to be invited to join a panel conversation last week about #DevRel for Open Source projects - here’s the #podcast episode from my friends at Major League Hacking. https://episodes.fm/1658813805/episode/bDA0bjV4ODA=It was a pleasure to be invited to join a panel conversation last week about #DevRel for Open Source projects - here’s the #podcast episode from my friends at Major League Hacking. https://episodes.fm/1658813805/episode/bDA0bjV4ODA=

The Mastodon team has had some questions about the new OpenGraph tag, some directly to me.I also know that the technical API side of this is not yet fully documented (except in discussions with the team / fediverse posts). I aim to have documentation ready for the wider release! Here to help if I can do so.

This is an initial release. Right now it is only in nightly builds of the Mastodon server, and requires that domains be approved by an instance admin for the new byline to show up below a link card. That’s not ideal. We’re going to work on giving users the option to control how and if they can be shown as a page author, to reduce the friction and burden on instance admins.

The wifi in my Pi Zero W in my Brachiograph died - a straight replacement (another same model, same SD card) and it is back up and running. The wifi in my Pi Zero W in my Brachiograph died - a straight replacement (another same model, same SD card) and it is back up and running. ️ super weird, and first time I've seen that myself - from forums, I can see others have had various wifi issues at different times. Back in action just in time for @lpoolmakefest

Mastodon rolls out built-in bylines for journalists in the fediverse https://www.theverge.com/2024/7/2/24191049/mastodon-built-in-bylines-journalists-fediverse@kaiserkiwi @ivory @vmstan @josedante @verge correct, that is the goal here. Doing our best to communicate things via Trunk & Tidbits engineering blog posts and other appropriate channels.

@neil I may be able to help with a Fedi shirt (we don't have it on our shop just yet but plan to get it there) something like this...@graves501 tax and shipping etc should be free for UK/EU/US, we wanted to make sure that was included. We tried to make it one price regardless of UK/EU/US location (other countries may vary). Just letting you know for a future opportunity ️

Today we're launching a new #Mastodon feature that will highlight writers and journalists that are active on the fediverse when their their articles are being shared.@developerjustin @Mastodon @mastowatch ah, no, that's not there that I know of - I'll make a note on that one.

Setting up Syncthing for some offsite mirroring.@sldrant some interesting permission / implementation things (running on Synology and OpenWrt etc) but otherwise pretty smooth! Good solution for the specific thing I needed here.

Today we're launching a new #Mastodon feature that will highlight writers and journalists that are active on the fediverse when their their articles are being shared.@developerjustin @Mastodon @mastowatch the card on a status now has an authors attribute (an array which currently always has one item), which has the properties name, url and account. Will be documenting this properly shortly.

author tag in link preview test@wongmjane this will only work with sites that are already approved for trending, and only on nightly builds (mastodon.social etc, not macaw just yet) - but - feel free to add to the site! We should make it easier in future and hope that other platforms adopt something similar.
