Anecdotally speaking, I’d say over 90% of the profiles I encounter on here are tech based/ran by someone with tech background in some way. Not the douchey tech bros, more so the cool anarchist hacker type or hates authority and respects privacy type. Even though it’s a language i definitely don’t understand in my brain if the tech people are here that is a good sign about how this platform operates that backs up everything i have read and learned about fedi.

Academic disciplinary hearings have begun at Portland State University for students who were allegedly involved in protesting against genocide and the results are… not great.Academic disciplinary hearings have begun at Portland State University for students who were allegedly involved in protesting against genocide and the results are… not great.
So far I’ve talked to one student who graduated this summer and was set to go to law school, they are now being denied their transcripts and other documents forcing them to wait at least one year before they can attend law school. Another student I spoke with is barred from attending any more classes at PSU for one year and can’t utilize university housing. Additionally, with zero evidence that they were involved in the PSU library occupation, they are being forced to pay a $5,000 restitution for it. The administration claimed that they are receiving these consequences because they did an interview with someone *outside* of the library. In the disciplinary hearing outcome letter they received, the university stated that “the Library during this incident totaled at least $750,000. Restitution in this case has been calculated by dividing the cost of the damages by the number of individuals reported to have been involved in the occupation of the library.” So not only are they assuming this student was involved with the library, but they are also giving out this restitution based on a guess of how many people were inside the library. With zero evidence this person was inside, let alone that they were involved in any property destruction.
Both of these students were arrested a month after the library was raided by police and cleared out at an entirely separate location and have zero charges from law enforcement related to the library itself. Trials for the library and other protests on campus are set to begin this month.

When I was first assaulted by PBs, I was filming a flag burning and it was entirely unprovoked. I did however get found guilty on felony riot just for being there, despite all the evidence showing why I was there and what I was doing. The prosecutor still painted
me to be the ring leader of antifa and "leading chargers" that day against PBs. The trial itself was absolute hell. The time leading up to it was hell. They sent me to jail where I spent two weeks in maximum security and I now am on 2.5 years of probation.Earlier this week, local Proud Boy Berry Johnson plead guilty to his charges stemming from that same day before his trial was set to begin. Although during my trial the prosecutor argued that the definition of someone "participating" in a riot included just simply speaking to people who may have different intentions, Berry did not receive this charge. By that definition, anyone present would have been a "participant." The fact that a few dozen publicly identified proud boys who were there and brutally assaulting people who received no charges aside, Berry Johnson was only charged with a misdemeanor. Not only was he acting violently throughout the day and instigating violence, but the situation he caught charges on he assaulted an older gentleman and pulled a knife on him along with tearing up his banner.
Mind you after I had my lawyer tell them I would *only* possibly entertain noncooperative plea deals, in the three years of dealing with this case before it went to trial I was only ever offered one plea deal- which was to plead guilty to all my chargers and do a month in jail lol.
Fully fascist state, full stop, masks off. They’re saying the quiet part out loud. I’m not surprised by this, but going through it is beyond dystopian.

Also in 2008, IOF commander Gadi Eisenkot commented on these regions saying “from our perspective, these are military bases”
They've called all Arabs animals, expressed how they view the entire population in these countries as terrorists, and view the countries themselves as military bases with zero regard for civilian lives. How can they care about civilian lives when they don’t even see us as human? They have been burning people alive in hospitals still tethered to their IV’s, burying people alive, bombing countless hospitals, attacking orphanages and refugee camps. They've completely leveled countless residential buildings. Mosques. Churches. Schools. Muslim neighborhoods. Christian villages. They've targeted children, medics, firefighters, people distributing food and aid, journalists, peace keepers. They target escape routes for forcibly displaced people so people are trapped with nowhere to go. Their evil has no mercy, and evidently no limits.
Israel continues to insist that they’re only targeting Hamas and Hezb targets while also making their plans for a greater Israel even more obvious than a decade or two ago. They’re openly stating what their plans and intentions are, they are often honest and upfront about their colonization and ethnic cleansing, but that doesn’t matter. The Dahiyeh Doctrine? All of Lebanon is being attacked. No demographic is spared. Ethnicity, religion, party affiliation? It doesn’t matter. We saw this play out first in Palestine and now the same thing in Lebanon.
Meanwhile western media is still reporting that it’s only (“only”) southern Lebanon being attacked to minimize Israel’s destruction and murder. They call hospitals with zero party affiliations “hezbollah hospitals” or “Hamas hospitals” to justify them being bombed, regardless of the fact that it’s still inhumane to bomb a hospital- no matter its religious or political affiliations. They’re still demonizing Arabs to justify genocide. They’re still underreporting massacres and deaths. There’s still no mention of the manufactured starvation, lack of aid, clean water, medical supplies. Syria is still getting bombed in the shadows as if nothing is even happening.
At this point there is no reality in which those in power don't see it for what it is. There is no reality in which the media doesn’t see and know the truth. Every single one of these massacres has been live streamed for the world to see. There are no excuses. Just a lot of people with blood on their hands. There will come a day when each and every one of them will have to answer for this and I hope I’m alive to see it. May each and every one of them forever be haunted by each persons screams as their bodies were buried under rubble.

Since September 23rd, people in Lebanon have been receiving anonymous messages with threats and calls to evacuate homes in specific areas.I’ve been urging all of my family and friends back home to switch to signal. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t use WhatsApp to communicate with people in the Middle East. It’s been the go to for ages, and it’s just not safe. Not ever but especially not right now.
“The SMEX Digital Safety Support Platform confirms that the phone stores a lot of data, and that the occupation army has many technical tricks that enable it to determine the location of the individual, whether through the phone number, intercepting the network, analyzing frequencies and metadata, or cooperating with major technology companies, or drones.”
This is a good resource to share with anyone you may know there that explains things fairly simply:

Since September 23rd, people in Lebanon have been receiving anonymous messages with threats and calls to evacuate homes in specific areas.Since September 23rd, people in Lebanon have been receiving anonymous messages with threats and calls to evacuate homes in specific areas. The IOF also hacked radio waves, broadcasting “warning” messages while drivers were listening to their car radio. People have been receiving messages through various platforms, including text messages, phone calls from foreign or Lebanese numbers via WhatsApp, as well as calls from Lebanese numbers on mobile or landline phones in a psychological warfare campaign perpetrated by Israel. Journalists reported that the SMS messages were sent through data obtained by mobile companies Alfa and Touch who sold this data to advertising agencies.
Reaching people through WhatsApp and telegram has proven to be even easier. Fake accounts are created using phone lines that can be purchased or activated online. The occupation targets residents of a particular area with messages using the communication data it possesses.
People are sharing WhatsApp and other groups claiming to assist with evacuations and rescues. Some of these groups were created by the Israeli occupation, which established a website and provided a link to a WhatsApp group falsely claiming to offer rescue services.
Phone calls coming from Lebanese numbers do not imply any kind of breach or that they’re even coming from inside Lebanon. They use a method called “masking” which allows the caller’s number to appear as if it’s from Lebanon while operating from elsewhere. The head of Lebanons telecommunications infrastructure said that around 60,000 calls reached various areas in Lebanon, playing a pre-recorded message ordering people to evacuate their homes on September 23rd alone.
This is an old technique used by Israel during the 2006 war.
In certain cases, Israeli messages reach individuals that the Israeli army claims to know through signal interception rather than phone hacking. According to the technical team at SMEX, a digital rights and freedom group advocating in West Asia and North Africa, this can happen by monitoring the phone connected to the network and the internet, identifying the closest antenna to determine the location of the person connected to it, among other methods. An Israeli drone could also intercept the signals between this antenna and all the phones connected to it, allowing the drone to gather all connected numbers and send calls and short messages to them.
These coordinated cyber infiltration attacks by the Israeli occupation proves its attempts at eavesdropping, hacking, data theft, and network intrusion. SMEX has previously exposed Israel’s capabilities in hacking data and eavesdropping on communications.
